Installation of metal-plastic pipes - highlights

Like all modern materials, metal-plastic pipes have both positive and negative qualities.

To "pluses" of metal-plastic pipes carry:

  1. High resistance to rust, as their metal is protected by a polymer coating, which protects it from corrosion;
  2. Possession of the internal part of the ideal smoothness, prevents the adherence of calcareous formations, which often lead to overgrown pipes;
  3. Installation of metal-plastic pipes is possible for both water supply and for the construction of a "warm" floor and heating system;
  4. Thanks to the plastic layer, the installation of metal-plastic pipes is allowed for all kinds of communications that pass inside the wall;
  5. Installation of metal-plastic pipes is carried out without the use of complex tools.

To "minuses" of metal-plastic pipes carry:

  1. They have a limit of flexibility, allows them to bend them only with the use of a special "pipe bender";
  2. Proceeding from the fact that aluminum and plastic expand at different temperatures, this, as a rule, leads to their delamination. Proceeding from this, it is necessary to buy metal-plastic pipes only of high-quality production.

When choosing metal-plastic pipes, it is worth taking into account a couple of nuances, namely:

  1. The aluminum layer: the thinner it is, the less reliability and strength of the pipes. Standard is a layer with a thickness of at least 0.3 mm. It is with this thickness of aluminum that the pipes will have the necessary softness and strength.
  2. Aluminum layer in the manufacture should be welded only butt.
  3. The appearance of the pipes should not have any mechanical damage and signs of stratification.

When installing metal-plastic pipes by oneself, first of all it is necessary to draw a scheme of communication, which must be replaced. Also on this diagram, in addition to the total length, the connecting places, corners and taps are indicated. This scheme is needed to purchase the necessary material (pipe, threaded fittings), and only after that begins the installation of metal-plastic pipes. The rules are easy to remember.

Mounting of metal-plastic pipes with threaded fittings makes work much easier, as it is not necessary to cut any thread, and the connection is very easy and fast. In order to cut a metal-plastic pipe, it is necessary to use special scissors, which ensure the evenness of the edges, without damaging the plastic layer. If you do not have such scissors, you can use an ordinary metal hacksaw, after which you should carefully inspect the edge of the cut, in order to remove all the burrs. The main thing is that the cut was absolutely smooth, and there were no visible delaminations on it. To seal the fittings, only rubber sealing rings should be used and in no case use plastic for this purpose. The union nut of metal-plastic pipes must be tightened with moderate force, so as not to break the thread.

Here, in principle, and all the basic nuances of working with metal-plastic pipes. As you can see, the installation of these pipes can be done on their own, the main thing is to be careful and extremely attentive.
