High-yield self-pollinated varieties of cucumbers for open ground

Not so long ago in the open ground only cultivars of cucumbers were grown, which were pollinated by bees. Such cucumbers are remarkable for their delicious palatability, they can be salted and marinated. But gradually they were replaced by self-pollinated varieties of cucumbers for open ground (parthenocarpic), or self-fertilized F1 hybrids. Their fruits can be tied without pollination by bees. Initially, such varieties were invented for closed greenhouses, but, as it turned out, they yield high yields, growing on open land.

Parthenocarpic - varieties of cucumbers self-pollinated for open ground

These cucumbers have indisputable advantages. Self-fertilized hybrids are characterized by extremely high yield and quality of green. Their fruits taste great, without bitterness. Fruiting is continuous, and the plant itself is resistant to the most harmful diseases and unfavorable climatic conditions. Considering the fact that bee populations are getting smaller every year, self-pollinated cucumber varieties for open ground have become a real find for all gardeners and crop growers. In addition, during the period of mass flowering of cucumbers, cool weather often takes place, and then gardeners face the problem: there are plenty of flowers, but the ovary does not. Therefore, high-yielding varieties of cucumbers for open ground self-pollinated are currently the most in demand in modern vegetable production.

Hybrid F1 Fare

Not so long ago, domestic breeders brought out a parthenocarpic hybrid, which has not only remarkable taste qualities, but also perfectly suits for marinating and pickling. F1 Zador refers to a hybrid of the cornichon type, to the group "early varieties of cucumbers self-pollinated for open ground". This species is characterized by high yield. Cucumber fruits are delicious, without bitterness, dark green color, with large tubercles and whitish pubescence. The shape of the fruit is cylindrical, up to 10 cm long. It is these cucumbers that are considered the most successful option for pickling. They have a delicate skin, which contributes to the good penetration of salt. Seeds in these hybrid cucumbers are absent, due to which there is no void in the salting inside.

Early varieties of cucumbers self-pollinated for open ground Zador are grown both by direct sowing in the open ground and through seedlings. The plant is extremely resistant to diseases, rot and weather. The stem branches well. The cucumber scoops are half-open, the leaves are of medium size, so that fruit is easily collected.

Self-pollinated cucumber varieties for open soil F1 Picas

These vegetables are medium-sized varieties: it takes about 55 days from germination to obtaining fruits. Plants are very powerful, with a long main shoot. The hybrid has an average shoot-forming ability. These cucumbers can be grown in greenhouses or open ground, after holding the plants for some time under the film. In early May, it is possible to sow seedlings. When there are two or three real leaves, the plant is planted in the ground. Usually this happens in May-June. When planting it is better to use a 40 x 40 scheme.

Fruits are dark green, have a cylindrical shape and reach 20 cm at a mass of 180-220 grams. In each node of the plant, up to three ovaries are formed. Hybrid is quite resistant to rot and powdery mildew. This variety has a high yield. The taste is excellent. Poorly suited for pickling.

Hybrid Rafael F1

Self-pollinated cucumber varieties for the open ground F1 Raphael are medium-mild hybrid species with a period of 50 days from shoots to the beginning of fruiting. The length of the main shoot can reach 3-3.5 meters, while shoot formation is average.

The hybrid is more suitable for greenhouses, but practice is also the planting of seedlings in the ground. Seeding on seedlings can be made in early May, and direct planting in the soil - at the end of the month. The length of the green is 20 cm. In this case, the fruits have a dark green color. The taste qualities are high. In one node, up to two ovaries can be formed. Fruits are not suitable for salting. The plant is resistant to root rot and various diseases.

White Angel F1

Hybrid White angel F1 refers to mid-ripening varieties with a very high degree of parthenocarpy (self-pollination). Type of flowering - mixed. The variety is intended both for growing in greenhouses and in open ground (provided temporary use of a protective film).

The plant has a high degree of shoot formation. In the sinuses of each leaf can form up to two ovaries. The color of the cucumber is unusual - greenish-whitish. Fruits reach 8 cm in length and have infrequent tubercles. Fruits can be consumed both in fresh form, and in pickled or canned. Productivity from one bush - up to 4 kg.

Care of self-pollinating hybrid cucumbers

To obtain a high seed germination, it is necessary to keep the temperature at least 13 degrees Celsius. The ideal temperature for seed germination is 18 degrees at night and 24 in the afternoon.

Therefore, sow high-yielding varieties of cucumbers for open ground self-pollinated (Rodnichok and other bee-dusted varieties is similar) follows when the soil is warmed up properly. The bed should be located on the sunny side and be reliably protected from the wind. The sowing is mulched a little by humus, and then covered with a film protection to protect the soil from drying out.

In the case of planting seedlings, the harvest can be expected 2-3 weeks earlier than when sowing seeds. When planting seedlings it is better to use a special substrate, in large quantities containing peat.

Top dressing of cucumbers should be done carefully, under the root, using water-soluble mineral fertilizers of low concentration once a week. Water for irrigation should be at room temperature.
