Incubator With Your Hands

The incubator - a good thing and necessary in a personal farm - loaded eggs there and wait calmly until the chickens are pushed through. Today you can buy an incubator in a store, but it is often unprofitable to use it in a personal farm, as it is only needed once or twice a year, mainly in the spring or early summer. But there are times when an incubator is needed urgently.

The reasons for encouraging a person to make an incubator with their own hands may be different, for example, a hen-hen gave up a nest or died, and chickens are about to hatch. What to do?

We suggest you make an incubator with your own hands from two basins. This is probably the simplest homemade egg hatchery that can be done in a few minutes.

This method was described in a magazine, perhaps in the "Household plot". We ourselves used such an incubator, so I can say that even though he was not very good-looking, he worked well. The truth is one "but" - you need to be near all the time. In addition to two enameled basins of the same size, you will need an old desk lamp, a can and a room thermometer.

At the bottom of the lower basin lies a litter made of hay and down. Pooh can be taken from an old pillow. A jar of water is placed in the center. Eggs are laid around the jar in one or two rows, next to the eggs, you must definitely put a thermometer. The number of eggs depends on the size of the basin.

In the middle of the second basin, a cartridge with a light bulb of 40 or 60 watts is attached. The power of the bulb also depends on the size of the basins. We lay eggs in a basin, pour water in a jar, cover with a second basin and turn on the lamp.

Homemade egg incubator is ready. Between the basins it is necessary to put two sticks with which the temperature inside the incubator will be regulated: if the temperature is higher than the norm, the gap between the pelvises is larger, if lower - respectively, less. It is necessary to watch, that the temperature of air inside the pelvis was not lower than 37 and not more than 40 degrees. Periodically, eggs should be sprinkled with warm water, turned over and cooled twice a day. As you can see, such an incubator is very easy to make by oneself, but its use takes a lot of time and attention.

A similar incubator for eggs made by K. Amberov living in the Kamchatka region. He uses an enameled basin for a home-made incubator and pours dry sawdust into it, gives them a nest shape and puts a piece of fur into the groove. In a pelvis with a diameter of 46 centimeters, 50 eggs and a thermometer fit. A blue lamp with an aluminum lampshade of 75 watts is installed above the basin.

The temperature in such a home-made incubator is regulated by the lamp lift height. In the first week, the temperature is maintained at 39.5 degrees, then falls by a degree and by the end of the third week is 36 degrees. Eggs also need to be turned, sprinkled and cooled. If suddenly turn off the light, then eggs should be covered with a piece of blanket, heat the water to 40-42 degrees, pour in medical warmers, put them on top and cover with a warm cloth. Humidity in the incubator is maintained by a constantly open window.

An incubator with its own hands, made in this way, allows you to bring out not only chicks, but also goslings, ducklings and even turkeys. Approximately 84% of the eggs laid for incubation are excreted. But if you want to start earning with the help of an incubator, but you do not have seed capital, then a more serious option is needed. For example, you can make an incubator for eggs with your own hands from the refrigerator. Here you need such a necessary detail as a thermostat, which, by the way, can maintain the temperature in the winter greenhouse.

Whatever the incubator made by own hands, with its help it is possible to receive chickens for cultivation in housekeeping.
