The universe of "Mad Max" was born almost forty years ago. It all started with the fact that in the patrol squad of a small city, the usual police officer Max Rokatanski flew like a meteor on his interceptor. The character was embodied in life by then a modest, nobody known Mel Gibson.

Respectable police officer in a crazy world

Everything at Max was like ordinary people - work, a beloved wife, a child. Only it happened already in unusual times. The world plunged into anarchy and chaos, gangs of scumbags did what they wanted on the streets. Order and stability supported the efforts of already tired and exhausted single heroes like Max Rokatanski and his partner Gus ...

From this, and began to create an odyssey about Mad Max, already become a cult director, George Miller. To create the first part of the franchise, he had nothing but enthusiasm, Australian landscapes and a tiny budget. The mad success of "Mad Max" allowed him to turn around and create a whole post-apocalyptic universe already in the second part.

The path to insanity

The world of the first film is still similar to the one we are familiar with, still some law enforcement agencies are acting, unscrupulous lawyers are dragging out hardened murderers from prisons for money. But the decay has already begun, and the world is slipping into the abyss. Max Rokatansky is a police patrol detachment who does his job. He does not care about the rest of the world because his beloved wife and child are near. Everything that happens outside does not touch it. Everything changes when his friend Gus is brutally murdered. Bandits, whom he once caught, wanting to take revenge on him, burn him alive in his own patrol car.

This is the beginning of the transformation of Max Rokatanski into Mad Max. Killed and devastated by the sight of his crippled and burnt-out friend, he loses faith in the fact that working in the police, you can change something. Max believes that you can escape from the real world and create your own cozy world with your beloved family. He is still a kind and cheerful person, able to love and ready to respond to love. Traveling with his wife and child, he seemed to find lost calm, the ability to enjoy life. But fate is ruthless, his friend's killers get to his family. Having lost everything, Max Rokatansky becomes Mad Max. He does not believe in anything, he does not want anything. The only driving force is revenge. Having avenged his enemies, devastated and unlike himself, Max leaves to reappear in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed after a global catastrophe.

In the sequel, Max is already an eternally lonely wanderer. He does not care about other people's problems, he wants only to survive and rush forward, never stopping anywhere. A car interceptor, a faithful dog, with whom he shares canine canned food - this is the world in which Max Rokatansky lives. Mad Max wants one thing - to get fuel, which in this insane world is almost more expensive than water. This is how he gets involved in the story with the rescue of a small settlement of people. On their own they possessed wealth in the form of a source of fuel. A whole horde of bandits besieges the fortress, and by chance Max gets dragged into this war. Only directly facing the suffering of people, having learned them anew, Rokatanski wakes up, and he is again ready to fight for justice. Helping unhappy people to get out of the besieged fortress, Max feels like a man again.

Knight of the sad image

Films about Max Rokatansky are fascinating not only with the plot and history itself. All kinds of cars, trucks, trucks are active participants in films. Car tricks, performed live, keep all the screen time in suspense. Max's fate is always connected with growling monsters. He and the machine are inseparable from each other. He is like a centaur and without wheels, losing all power. And it does not matter whether Max is driving a car or driving an armored wagon. Max is a true warrior of roads, and a car for him is like a horse for a medieval knight.

In fact, he is an errant knight. Only a knight without faith, no hope, no goal. The radioactive desert of Australia, scorched by the sun, is his world. We need a serious shake-up so that the guard of order wakes up in it and begins to help the weak and defenseless.

The third part of the franchise turned out frankly weak and meaningless. "Crazy Max. Under the Thunder Dome "was conceived, apparently, as an attempt to please everyone without exception. The city of Barterville, which ends up as a result of his wanderings, Max Rokatansky, is more like one of the cities from the films about Conan the Barbarian. Even more reinforces this impression of the image of the hostess of the city of Entity. Tina Turner, by the way, is the only thing that can cause interest in this film.

Most importantly, Mad Max was left without wheels. Without cars, he does not look like himself and resembles a fish that has landed on land. In addition to Conan the Barbarian, in the film there is a sudden reference to "Lord of the Flies". The community of children, divorced from civilization - all this puts Max Rokatanski in the world of child dystopia. Taking on the role of educator of a large kindergarten, he begins to babysit with the children.

The plot of the film loses its harmony, it is not perceived as one whole. Most importantly, the spirit of the Mad Max's universe is lost. Everything is brought to the point of absurdity and exaggerated, not taken seriously. George Miller went too far with spices, and an incoherent set of cliches and references to various fantastic films was learned at the exit.

Replace Mel Gibson

Turning affairs into the third part of the franchise, George Miller decides to return to the sources and again places the legendary character in the post-apocalyptic environment of the second film. "Crazy Max. The Road of Fury "and positioned itself as an interquel as a link between the first and second parts of the film. Mel Gibson, who became a director and aged, could no longer play such a thermonuclear character as Max Rokatansky. Having challenged the system, it helps to escape the wives of the half-mad maniac. So she wants to start life from scratch, on a new earth, away from tyranny. From some point of the way, Max and Furiosa converge, and they begin an insane race for happiness.

Without superfluous words, the main thing is action

The fourth film of the saga about Max is not burdened with superfluous words. The spectator receives pleasure from bright dynamic pictures replacing each other. At the same time, the director could try to avoid unjustified use of special effects. Many tricks are performed live, and all this adds life to the film. He becomes a real world in himself. As if laughing at conventions, the director practically zeroes out the plot of the film, which boils down to a crazy race from one point of space to another and back again. It's not a matter of dialogues and monologues, but of action, dynamics. What is the surrealist type of guitarist hanging on the lobbies and playing rock on the fire-breathing guitar.

Max Rokatansky and Furiosa are a crazy tandem. Being an excellent actress, Charlize Theron overacts his partner. Mad Max is more of a modest assistant to the Furious Fouriosa. His job - to replace the warrior behind the wheel and help shoot back from the villains. As in the second part of the saga, Max initially just wants to stay away and continue his journey alone. Only the sight of defenseless women, torn from the golden cage of Undying Joe, once again awakens the police officer Max Rokatanski. Now his fate is connected with them and with Furiosa.

The victory of rage and madness

The army of mad fanatics of Undying Joe, the savages on the spiked battle vehicles - these are the enemies from which Max and Furios rush away. Having lost hope at the end of the path, the team takes a crazy and brilliant decision - to rush all the way back and make a coup in the realm of the Undying Joe. Mad Max and Furious Furya crush all obstacles in their path and achieve the impossible.

Another intrigue - Undying Joe and Max sworn enemies, Rokatanski has his own personal scores, but in the film it's not emphasized. In the foreground is the history of Furiosa. After completing his mission, Max goes to the side.
