Draw pictures: a step-by-step instruction for beginners. How to draw a picture in pencil?

In order to learn to draw well, you do not have to be a real artist. And even to have special talents is not necessary. It's important just to be able to hold pencils / brushes / feathers in hand and master several basic techniques for transferring an image to the plane of paper or any other surface. In fact, you just need to learn how to copy the drawings of others, observing the proportions and lines of the original.

Money-box

You can draw pictures in many ways. For example, it is elementary through a carbon paper. Of course, in this case, the image format should completely match, you can not reduce or enlarge it. Variants are possible only, for example, in coloring, coloring. But this allows you to draw pictures in such a way that even the smallest, hard-to-transfer elements are preserved. The technology is pretty simple. Take a blank sheet of paper, put a carbon paper on it with a sticky side down, on top, on the front side, the very image that needs to be painted. Images on all lines carefully circle with a simple pencil with a finely honed lead. Just do it slowly. Especially carefully draw small sections of the picture.

Cons and pros

As you understand, it is not difficult to draw pictures like this. The downside of this method is that your drawing will be stained with carbon copy paper. If you discuss the color of the car, then it's better to take black or gray. And, of course, when you start to color the image, you can not remove the contours, unless you work with oil and gouache paints, and this is more difficult than just drawing pencil drawings for beginners. And watercolors have to be applied thick, thick layers, so that the base does not shine through. Its transparency, ease in this case will not be transferred. What is the plus of this method of drawing a picture in pencil? You can apply it not only on Whatman, landscape, cardboard or notebook sheet, but also on a smooth, for example, white cotton fabric, well-processed plywood.

Cell-grid in a fast way

You can transfer the picture from the original to your drawing using the "cellular" method. What does it mean? First, apply a marking grid to the sample. Use rulers, postponing centimeters and millimeters. Then, in the same way, draw a surface on which your drawing will be drawn. And carry the image, as they say, from the cell to the cell. What can you paint in this way? Quite complex paintings with many objects of different shapes, located at different levels: landscapes, still lifes, even portraits. The convenience of this method compared to the copier is that your drawing is clean, the pencil lines are then erased, only the paint, colored pencils and so on remain. And in your drawing you can transfer the necessary airiness, subtlety and juiciness of hues and all those color nuances that are inherent in the original.

Mesh professional

Approximately the same way, you can draw a picture in stages, only by acting in a few different ways. They are more painstaking, but the result is more accurate. Take such handy materials as a piece of transparent film or a sheet of tracing paper. Next, you will need a ruler and a thinly-cleaned simple pencil, as well as the actual drawing paper and a sample from which the copy will be made. I want to note that often professional artists act in a similar way, if they order copies of famous canvases.

The order of performance of work

How to start using all the tools? A film or a tracing paper will outline, that the grid turned out. Use better not centimeter, but millimeter scale, especially if the original contains many elements of complex and small. If the pattern is quite simple, then cells 2 cm by 2 cm are suitable. When the film is prepared, it needs to be applied to the sample, and the drawing should be translated. For more convenience, so that the grid does not move, fasten it with buttons. On the film, the image is applied with a thin marker - this is quite difficult to make with a pencil. And the alcohol marker dries faster without smearing at hand. Now for the same template, draw a blank sheet. If the new drawing should be larger, proportionally increase it. And number the cells, as in crossword puzzles, diagonally and horizontally. And only then copy the lines from the cells into your drawing.

Helpful Tips

Working with the grid (tracing paper), begin to redraw the main contour lines, at first longer. Go from the edges to the center. Then grasp the small strokes and begin to work out the finer details. When copying is finished, especially polish those lines that have turned out to be too straight, angular. Give them the necessary roundness, smoothness, volume. If your work should be in black and white, then now proceed to hatching. Start with light, pale shades, gradually deepening and completing the shadows. Emphasize shapes and curves, so your drawing will acquire realism.

Make sketches

If you are faced with the task of "how to copy from a photograph," you should go the other way. For example, you need to portray your favorite pet. Choose a photo so that the pet is in a simple, easy-to-paint position. Draw a coordinate axis on the sheet. The intersection point of X and the game is the center of the muzzle. Do the same axis on the photo, only gently, without spoiling it. Next, first draw the silhouette of the animal, focusing on the axis. Then the details. On the muzzle - eyes, nose. Ears. Paws, then, how your four-legged friend holds them. All the strokes do not pressing especially on the paper, because there are many things to correct. Be sure to observe the proportions. See that the body or head is not too small or elongated. In this you will also help coordinate axes.

From workpiece to picture

Now deal with the shadow and light. Gently start shading the shadows. This is a fur coat, for example, specks, stripes. Or the unlit places. Gradually go deep into details and details. Those elements of the picture that are key, the most important, should look brighter, and the secondary ones make a little dimmer. The details that the viewer should pay attention to are underlined. In particular, the muzzle of an animal, and on it - eyes, a nose. It is worth adding that the same rules are used if the appearance of an animal is not drawn, but a portrait of a person is written off from the photograph. Contrast should be concentrated on the eyes and nose.

Finishing touch

What is left for the novice artist to do? Clean the dirt. Separate places of drawing to soften, something to shade, somewhere to shade. Combine with shadows, write out the necessary details, hint at the presence of a plane, so that the impression is not created that the animal is floating in zero gravity. You can draw a shadow from the shape. And everything, your art is ready!
