How to make a system restore in a few minutes

Restoring the computer system is a process that will restore the PC's working capacity, eliminate failures and save the necessary information. In this article, we will look at how to do system recovery, what are the options for restoring the operating system and what should be done to ensure that when emergencies occur, the losses are minimal.

Before proceeding with the recovery process, let's look at a few recommendations that need to be performed BEFORE problems occur. On the computer, the operating system is usually on the C drive. If problems occur (virus, system crash, unrecognized errors, etc.), all information on the C drive may be lost.

Even if you physically have only one hard drive on your machine, you can virtually split it. Do it yourself or ask for help from a specialist. It is highly desirable to store all the important and necessary information on the disk D. We recommend that you make a C drive for 50-70 GB, the rest is a disk D. On drive C there will be an OS, your programs and settings for these programs. On disk D - all the rest of the information. This approach will make it possible to do a painless restoration of the system while preserving all the data.

Now on how to do a system restore. There are several options for recovery - standard Windows tools or with the help of special software. The system recovery program can restore the system in a few minutes from a previously created image. Let's consider in more detail what and how to do.

How to restore XP system by regular means:

Option 1. If Windows is unstable, check the system files. During the scan, damaged or changed files will be replaced. To verify their integrity and operability, you must perform the following actions:

  • Go to the START menu;
  • We find the inscription "Run" and press it;
  • In the window enter: sfc / scannow and click OK;
  • Follow the instructions of the system (you may need a WinXp installation disk).

Option 2: Start the system in safe mode. This download option is relevant if the system has been infected with viruses or trojans, an unauthorized installation of spyware or adware has occurred. Safe mode starts the minimum of the driver and system components. After the download, you can find and delete the infected files, restoring the normal operation of the system. How to do it:

  • To restart a computer;
  • During the reboot, you will hear a short beep - just press F8;
  • After that, the download options window will appear, where you will select "Safe Mode";
  • Press ENTER;
  • In the pop-up window, press the YES button to continue loading the safe mode.

After logging in, check the system with an antivirus that finds and removes the infection.

Option 3. You can try to boot the system by selecting the rollback to the last successful configuration. How to do it: Download (reboot) / F8 / in the boot menu select "Last successful configuration" / ENTER

Option 4. Using the installation disc, select the "System Restore" mode. * Recommended for advanced users.

This option will allow you to write data from the installation disk over the existing system. If everything goes well - all files, programs and settings will remain. You will need the same disk from which you installed the system. You may need an activation key / serial number for your copy of Windows. If you do not have one, it is better not to use this recovery option. If he is:

  • Insert the installation disk into the drive and start / restart the PC;
  • Press any key to start the installation from the disk;
  • After the window appears, press ENTER (the "R" key does not need to be pressed);
  • Pressing F8 will confirm the agreement with the license agreement ;
  • We need to select the option "Restore the selected copy." Only now we press

After installing new files, the system will reboot. All. The system was restored.

How to make a system restore in a few minutes.

The simplest and, perhaps, the most reliable way to restore the system is to use a special software. What is its charm: install the system, the necessary programs, make all the necessary settings. After that, using a special program (Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image), an image of the logical drive with the system is made, or a full copy of the entire hard disk. The information (image) is stored on the HDD. If necessary, several button presses and a few minutes of time will restore the system to its original purity, speed and attractiveness.

Before you do a system restore, make sure that the necessary data or backup programs from drive C are saved to drive D. The only "drawback" of these recovery programs is that they are paid. However, for most of our users this is not an obstacle - a little wit and everything will fall into place.
