How to cook mulled wine. A few simple ideas

When you mention the mulled wine, it immediately becomes warm to the soul, because mulled wine in translation from German (Glühender Wein) means literally "heated wine," and more correctly to say well-warmed, with the addition of tart spices and sugar, table wine (mostly red) weak wine. The fragrance of mulled wine is really amazing!

Cooking mulled wine was invented by Europeans, and traditionally they drink it not only in Germany, but also in Austria, Great Britain, and also in Scandinavian countries. Europeans, this low-alcohol drink is prepared, first of all, for Christmas, as well as for other holidays falling out during the cool season, they treat guests at home, and gladly buy it during festive street festivities, because it really very well warms in cold season.

I also sometimes like to cook my own version of mulled wine at home, especially when there are signs of a cold and just about to begin to beat a chill, and this spicy hot wine instantly warms - the heat literally spreads through the veins.

Ask yourself: how to cook mulled wine?

Recipes how to cook mulled wine is actually very much. At the same time, in no case do you need to get from your stocks an expensive collection wine, any dining room, semi-dry and even dry. I take mostly red, although there is a recipe for mulled wine and white wine.

The simplest recipe for mulled wine is wine, water, sugar and spices, among which cloves, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg are obligatory, also crusts of lemon or orange, raisins, other pieces of favorite fruit are added to mulled wine. Spices are not ground, but whole or rather large pieces.

So, how to cook mulled wine at home?

I do very simply - I take a bottle of table red wine, the alcohol content of which does not exceed 10%, and I buy a ready-made mixture of spices for mulled wine, which includes all the above-mentioned components plus raisins, cardamom.

I pour about a third of a glass of water (maybe a little more) in a Turk or a ladle, and I fill it with spices, bring it to a boil and cook on a small fire for just a couple of minutes, no longer, then I take it off the fire and let it brew this broth for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, I pour the wine into a saucepan and heat it to a warm state (without boiling!) And pour in a spoonful of spices, add a tablespoon of sugar and for a while I heat it all, but again not allowing the contents of the saucepan to boil. This is important, since the spilled wine with a spice has a very different taste, noticeably worse than it should be.

A hot drink must be filtered through a sieve and immediately poured on high thick-walled glasses with a handle or circles so that the cooling of the drink was as long as possible, because the mulled wine is not gulped, but is savored this hot spicy liquid. Sometimes, to increase the taste and strength, add a little cognac or liqueur to the mulled wine.

From such heat and a spicy smell at once it becomes cozy and the mood considerably improves!

However, if there are other spices at home, this recipe can be very easily varied, for example, add 2-3 peas of sweet pepper to a mixture of spices, you can experiment with the amount of sugar, especially if the wine is dry, add honey to the strained mixture after removing it from the plate. And you will get absolutely unique taste combinations every time.

And how to cook mulled wine with fruit?

The principle of cooking remains the same - heating the wine to about 70-80 degrees (no more), but instead of water you can take, for example, apple juice, with juice you can take more, for example, a glass on a bottle of wine, you can cut apples into slices, and Decorate the drink with lemon slices. In this case, all spices do not need to be added, but cloves and cinnamon will enhance the taste.

When preparing it is important to remember only the main points, how to cook mulled wine, and with the additives experiment on health and taste this warming soul drink in a pleasant company!
