Effective and safe antipyretics in pregnancy

Unfortunately, no one is immune to colds and ARVI, even women expecting a baby. And since at this time the list of drugs permitted for use is rather limited, the treatment is much more difficult. Elevated body temperature can adversely affect the fetus, so it must be knocked down. However, it is worthwhile to carefully approach the question of how and what antipyretics during pregnancy are used.

The increase in temperature, most often, indicates that the body itself is fighting a cold. However, if it is above 38 degrees, then it can speak of a viral disease, and there is a need to consult a doctor. Among the most popular drugs, including those that are prescribed during the waiting period for the child, is Paracetamol and the drugs based on it. It is considered relatively safe, since other antipyretics in pregnancy, for example, Aspirin and Analgin, doctors do not recommend unambiguously.

However, we must remember that Paracetamol is not so safe, especially during this period. In large doses, it is capable of toxic effects on the liver and kidneys, and in individuals who initially have the pathology of these organs, the risk of side effects increases severalfold. In pregnancy, this drug is prescribed to lower the temperature or remove the pain syndrome (dental, headache, etc. pain). It is not recommended to take the medication regularly.

In most cases Paracetamol and drugs, the basis of which it makes, is used as a febrifuge during pregnancy. At the same time, in therapeutic doses, it will not harm the fetus, it is much more dangerous for a woman in this state to have a high fever. However, before taking this medication, it is worth consulting with a doctor who will help determine the treatment scheme.

Many antipyretic drugs for adults and children, widely used in medicine, are based on ibuprofen. It is worth remembering that such drugs are not recommended for taking in the waiting period of the child, since they can cause fetal abnormalities. In rare cases, it is possible to prescribe them as a doctor, but only after assessing the risk to the woman and the child.

The most commonly used antipyretics in pregnancy are not medicamentous, but folk remedies. A special place is occupied by raspberries, which contains substances capable of normalizing the temperature in a natural way. You can take it in any form: fresh, dried, ground with sugar. In the latter case, a teaspoon of jam should be diluted in a glass of boiling water, after which the drink to drink. The procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day.

Also effective antipyretics in pregnancy are teas with linden, honey, lemon. In the latter, in addition, in large quantities contains vitamin C, the body needs to cope with colds.

You can resort to wiping and compresses. To do this, a small amount of vinegar is diluted in water at room temperature , a small cloth is moistened in it, and the body is wiped off. Especially it is worth paying attention to the forehead, the zones of the armpits, the limbs. Vodka wipes are also recommended.

It should be noted that if the temperature does not drop with the help of folk remedies, then only in this case resort to medical treatment. In this case, it should be appointed directly in consultation with the attending physician. It is necessary to study and the instruction given by manufacturers of a preparation. In no case should you exceed the dosage and frequency of medication, otherwise the toxic effects of the remedy may appear.

Any biologically active additives in pregnancy are not recommended, as there is no accurate data on the safety of their use in this period.
