The lowest and highest temperature on our planet

In the summer months of the last few years, we are increasingly complaining about the unbearable heat of July or August. This topic necessarily pops up in everyday conversations, where we complain about unbearable climatic conditions. Particularly hard for residents of large cities. The same topic appears regularly on the pages and in the video materials of the media: "Today, the highest temperature has been registered in the last n years ..." and "The temperature record is again broken ..." In this connection it would be interesting to know what temperatures are possible at all Our planet.

And first of all about Russia

Yes, it was in our country that one of the weather temperature records among the settlements of the Earth was recorded . But this was not the highest temperature, but the lowest. In Oimyakon, which is located in Yakutia, only 350 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle, a temperature of -71.2 ° C was recorded. It happened in 1926. For a middle-aged person or southern regions, it's even hard to imagine such a cold! By the way, the inhabitants of the city perpetuated this moment by installing a memorial plaque.

Vostok station

And this record again belongs to the Russians. Let the station not be on the territory of the country (it is located in Antarctica), but it is the fruit of the works of Soviet science and engineering. And it was here in 1983 that the lowest temperature of the air was recorded all over the planet. This figure was -89 ° С.

Canadian frosts

This country is the northernmost in the western hemisphere, so it is not surprising that Canada also boasts (or complains) record low temperatures. At the meteorological station "Eureka" the average annual temperature is -20 ° C. In winter, it regularly drops to -40 ° C.

Sultry Libya

Now a little walk through the places, the temperature of which contrasts sharply with the above. After all, here is the highest temperature on the planet! For example, Libya is famous for its incredibly high temperature. And in the place of El Azizia, 40 kilometers south of Tripoli, the highest temperature on Earth among the settlements was recorded altogether. In September 1922, it was +58 ° C. The real heat, in comparison with which the heat of our country will seem a light spring warmth!

And again, Libya

If native Russia has presented us with the lowest temperature records, then Libya is the leader. In 2004-2005, the highest temperature on the earth's surface was recorded in the local desert of Dashti-Lut. It was +70 ° С. Interestingly, this same desert is also the driest place on Earth (along with the Chilean Atacama Desert). No living creature, even bacteria, can survive here!

Hot Ethiopia

But in this country, the average annual highest temperature across the globe. The local area of Dallol is located below sea level for 116 meters and is covered with volcanic salt. Of course, there is nothing alive here. And the temperature in the local conditions is +34.4 ° C on average per year.
