Dosage form

The drug is available in the form of syrup and tablets.

The drug, which is presented in the form of a medicinal form of syrup - "Ascoril" for children. The instruction includes the composition of the syrup.

Composition:

Active substance:

• Salbutamol - 2 mg (in 10 ml of the drug);
• Guaifenesin - 100 mg (in 10 ml of the drug);
• Bromhexine hydrochloride - 4 mg (in 10 ml of the preparation);
• Menthol - 1 mg (in 10 ml of the preparation).

Excipients:

• sorbitol;
• Sodium benzoate;
• Sucrose;
• Flavoring additives;
• Glycerol;
• Yellow dye sanset;
• Propylene glycol;
• purified water.

Ascoril - tablets. The instruction includes the composition of the ascoril tablets.

Pharmacological action of the drug "Ascoril"

The instruction says that ascoril belongs to the category of preparations with expectorant and bronchodilator action. The pharmacological action of salbutamol is the relief of bronchospasm, as well as bronchodilator action. This is due to the fact that salbutamol is an agonist of beta-2-adrenergic receptors.

The mucolytic effect of ascorilum is provided by bromhexine, which is able to reduce the viscosity of secreted secretions by depolarizing acidic carbohydrates, and by stimulating secretory cells on the bronchial mucosa.

Guaifenesin promotes expectoration of sputum and the manifestation of its adhesive properties, and in addition, this substance helps to reduce surface tension. Menthol gently stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands and has a stable spasmolytic effect. Also, menthol has the properties of an antiseptic and can restore the functionality of the ciliated epithelium located on the bronchial mucosa.

Pharmacokinetics of the drug "Ascoril"

If theophylline is used together with the drug, as well as any sympathomimetics, the risk of side effects of salbutamol, which is part of the main active agents, is significantly increased.
