Creative thinking as a unique ability of the brain

Creative thinking is, in essence, the psychology of the creator. It is believed that the right brain hemisphere is responsible for creative thinking, and that is why left-handers often have more pronounced creative abilities than right-handers.

Thanks to this type of thinking in society, there are new ideas, material values, and everything that is unusual and unconventional. The result of the creative work of one author is very few people can repeat, and it is this creativity that differs from the production, which has the set standards and the scheme of actions for creating the product.

This makes creativity a very valuable phenomenon in our life: it is only necessary to see the difference between hand-made furniture and the standard factory, between a painting written by a painter and printed with the help of a machine, text created by man and artificial intelligence - it immediately becomes clear why it is so appreciated In any field of human activity.

Psychology of Creative Thinking

In psychology there is a whole section that is devoted to the study of creative thinking and products that are created with the help of it. But experts who work in this direction, there is a problem of criteria: after all, in fact, everything that is created in the world is unique. Thus, the field of study of the question acquires such a vague form that it is almost impossible to arrive at concrete scientific conclusions: there are no identical movements, events, even the same words are pronounced each time unequally. However, scientists nevertheless bother to find some common points that are key in the process of creating a unique:

  1. So, at first there is an occasion to realize creativity. The same stage is called preparation in some sources, but between them lies a lot of processes that the human brain needs to work out to start creating: first the person understands what he needs and then prepares for it. Here, the goal is formed, and tasks that need to be solved to achieve it are looming.
  2. Stage of incubation. Then the person is distracted from a specific direction, paying attention to the areas that can be associated with the object of creation.
  3. Stage of enlightenment. At that moment Archimedes exclaimed: "Eureka!", And an apple fell on Newton. Something serves as a clue, and then the human brain displays an optimal solution to the problem over which long reflections have been made. This moment is the culmination in the creative process.
  4. The last step is to check. After the fall of the apple, Newton returns to his notes and conducts experiments that confirm the discovery. The painter at this moment looks at the completed picture, correlating colors, evaluating the technique and checking how well the idea is conveyed. After that, the creation is ready, and society begins to use the created.

For a full understanding of creativity, it is important to understand that it is a way of liberation.

Creative thinking: a characteristic

This type of thinking has certain features that allow you to see and invent a non-standard and new.

  1. Mindfulness and "lateral thinking". Creative thinking obliges people to see the non-standard basis of phenomena, events, objects. Most often, the details can "remind" a person that an object can be used differently. And if this object is seen as integral, it is unlikely that the observer will be visited by thoughts about any new way of using it, because it already exists. The simplest example: a mug. If it is perceived holistically, then we know that liquid is being drunk from it. But if you pay attention to its shape, material, and, for example, leave it on your desktop, sooner or later the idea will appear that it is convenient to put pencils and pens. So there will be a "new" invention - a stand for pens.
  2. Good memory. Creative thinking can not be a person with a short memory, because creativity is a long process that requires maturation and knowledge of external facts. The Creator should be concentrated on several phenomena simultaneously: the very object of creation and phenomena, information about which will make it perfect. An accidentally seen thing once emerges in the memory and is the key to the solution.
  3. Flexibility and associativity of thinking. Creative thinking is often accompanied by a rejection of the usual hypotheses. If you do not show mental flexibility and listen to obsolete theories, then this will never lead to discovery. Associative thinking helps creative to "connect" and classify objects and phenomena, which, in turn, leads to unique ideas, one of which can turn out to be a genius.

Thus, creative thinking still has some common characteristics, and it requires from the person certain inclinations, developing which, he can become a happy owner of fresh ideas and unique objects.
