A little about how to insulate the ceiling in a country house and a bath

In order to ensure a favorable microclimate inside a private house, villa or additional buildings (for example, baths), and also save on heating (especially this is relevant for a countryside structure), floor and wall insulation is not enough. Therefore, many owners of private houses and villas are wondering how to insulate the ceiling.

Which material is better to use?

It is best to choose environmentally friendly and inflammable materials. So, professionals recommend to insulate the ceiling with clay, slag, clay with sawdust or mineral wool (in the form of slabs or rolls). The latter option is not only inexpensive, but also most suitable for these purposes.

Mineral wool is easy to install, fireproof and highly insulated. Before insulating the ceiling with this material, it is necessary to create a vapor and waterproofing framework to protect the insulation layer from moisture and prevent its decay. The most suitable material for this is parchment.

Cut the waterproofing material with a small allowance for sealing to the ceiling beams. After the vapor barrier layer is fixed, polystyrene foam (foam polystyrene) is placed on top.

Foam plates are cut and installed similarly to pergamina, and small gaps between them are sealed with a mounting foam. Then another layer of glassine must be laid on the layer of this material. Such measures help to slightly increase the service life of the insulation, eliminating the need for frequent overhaul of the ceiling coating.

How to insulate the ceiling. Process description

After the creation of a waterproofing framework, a heat-insulating layer is laid. For a greater effect, mineral wool should be laid in two layers according to the principle of brickwork. In other words, the upper layers of the insulation must cover the joints of the lower layers. Then you can start laying wooden boards over mineral wool. They ensure the monolithic and integrity of the insulating layer, pressing all previously laid materials.

How to insulate the ceiling in a bath

The main conditions in this case - the preservation of heat in the steam room and the prevention of condensation inside such a room. This, in fact, is the main difference between the insulation of the ceiling of the bath, because when doing such work in a country house it is necessary that the air circulate more or less freely.

In addition, you need to make sure that moisture does not fall into the attic. A ceiling made of fiberboard, plywood or plastic for a bath is not recommended. As condensation accumulates on the plastic, and the fiberboard and plywood are deformed when wet.

Before insulating the ceiling of the bath, first lay a layer of vapor barrier material. This can be a building polyethylene, thick cardboard or aluminum foil. Roofing felt and roofing paper for the bath are not suitable - at high temperatures, these materials release harmful substances and an unpleasant odor.

The ceiling device in a bath without an attic assumes, in addition to the vapor barrier, the presence of a heater (mineral wool, glass wool or perlite) and a rolling covering. As structural elements, there are beam beam and filed ceiling boards. If there is an attic, then a thin (1.5-2 cm) layer of clay coating is applied over the ceiling boards.

Than to warm a ceiling in a bath in this case? For thermal insulation, wood chips, soaked in cement mortar, are covered with a 15-17 cm layer. If this thickness is not enough, and condensation appears on the ceiling, the backfill layer needs to be increased.

Shields, which are attached to the ceiling from below, must be supported by bars, which are nailed to the side faces of the ceiling beams. The latter should be hermetically sealed in the brick wall so that warm air from the inside does not come into contact with cold sealing outside during the heating period, otherwise condensation will form, which leads to rotting of the tree.

So, the insulation of the ceiling in a country house or in a bathhouse is a task that can be solved even by the usual forces of one pair of skilful hands. However, it is better to instruct her specialists. This will save time and effort.
