The reserve "Stolby" (Krasnoyarsk) is known all over the world. This corner of nature can rightly be called the pride of the region. Founded it in 1925 to protect the rocky natural boundary of the Stolby, which is incredibly beautiful and picturesque. In the middle of the taiga, cliff-cliffs, which are granitic-syenite remains of a pinkish-brown color, warily rise. The height of some of them reaches 100 meters.

Famous visitors

In 1720-1727 the well-known medic and botanist Gotlib Messerschmidt visited the Stolby Reserve in Krasnoyarsk. During seven years of research in Siberia, he visited the area three times. The seafarer Vitus Bering (in 1733-1734) and the participant of the naturalists expedition Johann Georg Gmelin (academician) and his assistant Krasheninnikov (Kamchatsky) Stepan Petrovich came to the Stolby Reserve in 1735. From 1771 to 1773 the State Reserve "Stolby" visited one of the largest researchers of Siberia Pallas (professor of natural history). He lived in the capital of the region for almost a year, working on monographs. His works such as "Journey through the provinces of the Russian Empire", "Russian-Asian zoogeography" and "Description of plants of the Russian state" have become famous.

The thirties of the 19th century in Siberia were characterized as the times of the "gold rush". On the territory of the reserve were constantly searching for precious metal, after which this place was called "Roev stream" (from the word "dig").

In 1833 the animals of the Stolby reserve were recounted. An inventory was compiled: 43 foxes, 67 sables and about a thousand skins of other fur-bearing animals. In the 1970s and 1980s schoolchildren with excursions began to come to the Stolby Reserve (Krasnoyarsk). The head of such events was one of the teachers of the local gymnasium - I.T. Savenkov. He created a topographical sketch of all the environs of Krasnoyarsk. This work has become a methodological tool for Siberian geologists. And in 1886 Savenkov published a description of the geological structures of the localities of Krasnoyarsk. By the end of the 1940s, 16 scientific papers had already been prepared. At the same time, research was undertaken into the effects of atmospheric pollution, as well as the recreational use of taiga ecological systems.

In 2000, the main department in the Zoo "Roev Stream" in the reserve "Stolby" becomes a living place.

Geographical features

Middle-mountain territory from the north-west to the south-east is crossed by an arc from ridges - Listvyazhny, Central and Kadyansky. The southernmost is the last one, its length is 11 km, and the height is over 700 meters. Mana is the largest and most significant river in the region. Its width in some places is 200 meters, the depth on the ruts is 40-60 cm, on the pits - up to 30 meters. The average speed of the current is about 5 km / h. There are about 10 bays and 20 islands on the river, many of them were created artificially with timber floating.

The reserve "Stolby" is located in the temperate climatic zone. The coldest month is January, the average temperature is -17.6 ° C. In the hottest month, the air warms up to +16.2 ° C. For all the time that there is a reserve, an absolute minimum of -45 ° C is recorded, a maximum of + 31.5 ° C.

Flora and fauna

There are 150 species of plants in the reserve, which are subject to special protection. Among them you can see a very rare two-flowered violet, as well as a snow cap, spring minium, a Siberian patronia, and a white geranium geranium. In addition, the endemics are in need of protection - the Yenisei windmill, Mongolian thyme, the comb-like nezabudochnik and many others.

In the reserve "Stolby" 56 species of various mammals, most of them are forest dwellers. Of the large ungulates, more often than others, marals are found here. They live in small families or in groups of 2 to 8 individuals. In the mid-1970s, their numbers reached five hundred individuals. Also in the reserve there are such large and medium predators as brown bears, wolves, wolverines, foxes and badgers.

Rocks

For millions of years, frost and sun, winds and torrential rains have carved out unusual shapes from the stone. Almost all the rocks have their names - "Feathers", "Lion's Gate", "Grandfather", "Grief", "Big Eagle". Names were also awarded to several separate stones and fragments. Rocks can form groups or be single. One array usually has several vertices. The rocks themselves lead to the tops of the rocks. There are also "tricks" - these are places that can not be passed without special skill.

The three areas most visited by tourists

The cable car, which is called the fanpark Bobrovy Log, begins in the valley of the Bazakhi river, runs along the ski slope and ends at the very top of the ridge. It offers a stunning panorama of the entire reserve and rocks. Nearby is the largest rock complex "Takmak".

"Central Pillars" are located at a distance of 7 km from the outskirts of the reserve. It is here that you can see the unique rocks. The most famous moves to the tops of the rocks also have their own names, for example "Blue coils" and "Chimney". The experienced tell that in the years of the revolution the Bolsheviks made the inscription "Freedom" on the largest and massive pillar.

The "Chinese Wall" is located in the valley of the Bazaikha River, at the very foot of Takmak. In addition, in the area mentioned there is the rock Ermak and a group of small rocks with the names "Toad", "Tsypa", etc. In the part of the reserve that adjoins the city, several routes for skiers have been laid. The most popular are the "Beaver Log" and "Kashtak". Those who love nature, it will be very interesting to visit "The shelter of Dr. Aybolit." Here are the wounded animals. After they get better, they are released back into the wild, into their natural habitat.

Famous trails

The most famous route is circular. It starts from the First Pillar and runs through several rocks. In particular, on the way there are sites under the names "Granddaughter", "Feathers", "Grandfather", "Lion's Gate", "Grandma". The route passes through the 4th, 3rd, 2nd "Pillars", and then again comes to the "Elephant" and the First Rock. Once a month there is an opportunity to get to the territory of the reserve on a special additional bus.

Guest houses

In 2013, the first structures on screw piles were built in the Stolby Reserve. These guest houses were only three of the ten planned. Initially, they were intended for employees of the scientific-cognitive complex "Narym", stopping to study the flora and fauna of the reserve. But now they can accommodate tourists (not more than six people). It is worth such a pleasure without small 6 thousand rubles per day. Over time, the number of guest houses increased, and in December 2013, two more specialized buildings for tourists with disabilities were built.

How to get to the reserve "Stolby"?

This unique place is on the right side of the Yenisei. Visitors can get there on the Laletin road. The reserve "Stolby" is open daily, the entrance for visitors is free. You can get there from Krasnoyarsk by shuttle buses No. 19, 50, 78 to the stop "Turbaza" (Sverdlovskiy borough).
