Chronic bronchitis and methods of its treatment

The most common disease of the respiratory system is a disease called "chronic bronchitis." This disease is directly associated with chronic and constantly progressing inflammatory processes in the bronchi.

Such a disease can be either primary or secondary. Primary bronchitis occurs as an independent disease, while the secondary form, as a rule, appears against the background of other chronic or infectious diseases, including not only diseases of the respiratory system, but also problems with the cardiovascular system.

Chronic bronchitis: causes . In most cases, such a disease appears as a result of constant irritation of the respiratory tract and bronchi. It can be inhalation of polluted air, dust, toxic substances.

Chronic bronchitis: symptoms and course of the disease . The main symptom of this disease is a persistent cough. The disease is considered chronic if the cough lasts at least three months a year, and at least two consecutive years.

In order to understand how the disease develops, it is necessary to consider some functional and anatomical features of the respiratory system. The respiratory tract is covered with a flickering epithelium, which performs protective functions. In addition, the tissues of the bronchi are constantly secreted by mucus, which is a kind of local protection system, since it detains and neutralizes pathogens.

With the development of the chronic form of this disease, increased formation of this mucus is observed, which leads to a strong cough and sputum discharge. That's how the body tries to get rid of the allocated one. Over time, with a progressive disease, the composition of mucus changes, which becomes viscous, making it difficult to expectorate sputum.

Chronic bronchitis is accompanied by intense attacks of cough, which, as a rule, intensify in the evening or during sleep. Along with a cough, sputum is also secreted, which can have a purulent character, and sometimes even an admixture of blood.

How to treat chronic bronchitis? Treatment of the chronic form of this disease is a rather lengthy process. First you need to get rid of the cause of the disease. If it's tobacco, then you need to give up smoking.

At the time of exacerbation of the disease, doctors usually prescribe drugs that facilitate the excretion of mucus, as well as diluting drugs.

In addition, the patient must be engaged in special respiratory gymnastics. Correct breathing exercises can be chosen only by an experienced doctor who has studied all the features of the disease. With the help of regular exercises, you can strengthen those muscles that are involved in respiratory movements, and also remove excess mucus from the body.

In addition, for the same purpose use regular sessions with an experienced masseur. Sanatorium and resort rest is also useful. In any case, the treatment methods must necessarily be chosen by the doctor.
