Inflammation of the bronchi: symptoms and treatment

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi that occurs as a result of a previous cold or flu. This is a rather serious disease requiring timely competent treatment, as it can provoke the emergence of chronic bronchitis or asthma.

In most cases, inflammation of the bronchi, lungs is considered a seasonal disease, but with incorrect treatment can be quite serious complications, and the disease develops into a chronic form.

Causes of inflammation of the bronchi

There are many viral infections, penetration into the body of which provokes inflammation of the bronchi. This disease is dangerous because in the initial stages it is impossible to determine its practicality, as the temperature remains within normal limits and only in the mornings can there be a dry cough.

Quite often, bronchitis is accompanied by difficulty breathing and a feeling of dryness in the larynx. With the progression of the disease, a clear liquid is seen when coughing.

The emergence of bronchitis provokes an infection that has penetrated the body. It can be:

  • Influenza viruses;
  • Adenovirus;
  • Parainfluenza viruses.

Adults may suffer from bronchitis due to excessive tobacco smoking. It is worth noting that it is the inhalation of tobacco smoke that most often leads to bronchitis and is considered one of the main causes of this disease.

Symptoms of bronchial inflammation

If the patient has inflammation of the bronchi, the symptoms largely depend on the degree of damage and the severity of the inflammatory process. If the inflammatory process is acute enough, there are signs of intoxication and shortness of breath.

It is worth noting that the inflammation of bronchial symptoms is as follows:

  • Irritating cough, which is accompanied by painful sensations;
  • dyspnea;
  • Increased body temperature;
  • Separation of sputum;
  • Hard breathing, wheezing;
  • Severe bloating of the chest.

At the very beginning of the disease, cough is dry, and then it becomes wet and productive, with sputum secretion. At the same time, wheezing with prolonged exhalation is observed.

In some cases, a yellowish-gray or greenish tinge of sputum appears during coughing. With a strong development of the pathological process, sputtering of blood can occur in the sputum.

What can be the disease

Inflammation of the bronchi has several types, namely such as:

  • viral;
  • bacterial;
  • allergic;
  • fungal;
  • chemical.

The first type is characterized by the fact that the lower respiratory tract is affected. In general, viral inflammation of the bronchi occurs in children with low immunity. The causative agent enters the nasopharynx and settles in the bronchi. This type of inflammation has all the characteristic signs, so you can quickly diagnose the disease and begin treatment.

Bacterial type of bronchitis is rare, but carries a serious danger to the health and life of the patient. The symptoms are exactly the same as in viral bronchitis, but there is an addition of dark sputum secretion. Treatment is done with antibiotics.

In addition, there may be different types of bronchitis, in particular such as: acute, obstructive, chronic, professional. Each individual type of bronchitis has different signs and methods of treatment depending on the factors that provoked it.

Diagnosis of bronchitis

If the patient has inflammation of the bronchi, it is very important to conduct a timely diagnosis that will help determine the presence of the disease. The severity of the existing symptoms largely depends on the stage of the affected respiratory tract. At the very beginning of the disease, there may simply be a cough and spitting, but in a more neglected situation, there are signs of intoxication.

During the diagnosis, the doctor listens for wheezing in the bronchi. When carrying out an X-ray study, one can see a darkening of the lungs, but this is only observed with the advanced stage of the disease.

The severity of the disease can be determined by conducting blood tests. The diagnosis is made during the counting of leukocytes and the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation. During the diagnosis, the sputum analysis is done for microscopy with the color of the smear. Additionally, a cytological examination of sputum is performed with cell counting.

With prolonged or chronic bronchitis, sputum culture is mandatory on the microflora with the determination of sensitivity to antibiotics. They also carry out a smear and sowing from mushrooms to mushrooms.

Frequent exacerbations require mandatory bronchoscopy. The main goal of this study is to determine the concomitant lung diseases that can provoke symptoms similar to bronchitis.

Medication

Treatment of the inflammatory process of the bronchi is carried out in a complex manner, since only one method can be insufficiently effective.

Depending on what inflammation of the bronchial symptoms is, the treatment is selected after a thorough examination of the patient. Depending on the clinical picture of the disease, the patient may be prescribed antipyretic drugs, respiratory remedies, as well as antitussives.

Often for the elimination of mucus from the bronchi, expectorants and mucolytic drugs are prescribed, which for achieving greater efficacy are injected directly into the bronchi with the aid of a nebulizer. In addition, patients are prescribed therapeutic exercises and drainage of bronchi.

At the first sign of inflammation, you should immediately take antibiotics, as they will help quickly eliminate infection and viruses. If the patient has a dry cough, then get rid of it will help drugs such as "Pertussin", "Bromgeksin", "Mukaltin" and many others.

If these drugs do not give the desired effect, then drugs are prescribed that can suppress the cough reflex. In particular, such as "Codeine", which is prescribed in the form of tablets, powders and potions.

Treatment with folk remedies

Since inflammation of the bronchi symptoms, treatment can be different, then often enough as a therapy people's methods are used. A very good remedy is a medicine made on the basis of honey and radish juice. To make it, you need to cut off the top of the black radish and make a small hole. In this hole put a little honey and wait until the juice appears. This juice should be taken on a teaspoon in the morning and at bedtime.

Carrying out inhalations

Inflammation of the bronchial tubes involves treatment in the form of inhalations, as it helps to warm up the bronchi and achieve a good enough effect. In the presence of bronchitis, inhalations are indicated with the use of expectorants, heated mineral water, anise and eucalyptus oil. You can use an ultrasound or steam inhaler to perform the inhalation.

For the procedure, you can use an ordinary large saucepan, in which you need to warm up the water with the addition of medicinal herbs that have anti-inflammatory effect.

Treatment of a chronic disease

Chronic inflammation of the bronchi is considered quite dangerous and serious pathology, as it periodically breaks out with renewed vigor. In this case, patients have a strong cough that lasts for several months.

For the treatment of the disease, means are used that improve the patency of the bronchi. In addition, it is very important to improve immunity. The patient is prescribed frequent and copious drinking, carrying out inhalations. For treatment of cough apply expectorant and mucolytic drugs. Food in this period should be balanced, containing many vitamins.

Features and treatment of bronchitis in children

Inflammation of the bronchi in children is acute enough, so you need to pay attention in time to the presence of a pathological process in the body and choose the right funds for the therapy.

The cause of inflammation in children may be insufficiently strengthened respiratory organs, which are very quickly infected. Initially, the child has all the signs of a cold and in addition it is suffering from attacks of severe dry cough.

If the treatment is not timely, bronchitis can lead to exhaustion of the respiratory system and asthma. In this case, the doctor prescribes antitussive, antispasmodic and decongestant drugs.

In the case of wet cough, compresses are used, but they are contraindicated with increased body temperature.

Prevention of inflammation of the bronchi

Any disease is better to prevent than treat. Bronchitis is also no exception, so it is important to carry out various preventive measures in a timely manner.

As such, we can distinguish:

  • Reception of restorative drugs;
  • Vaccination of patients;
  • Observance of rules of personal hygiene.

In the cold season it is important to protect the throat, but do not put on too much heat, as this can lead to overheating and excessive sweating. Those who are inclined to frequent bronchitis, tonsillitis and tonsillitis, is shown to be hardening.

During the disease, it is important to observe the diet, as well as bed rest, as it contributes to recovery. For the period of treatment should stop smoking.
