Lake Turgoyak in the Southern Urals

The region of the South Urals can hardly be considered among the most popular and popular tourist destinations. Many people, choosing places for summer holidays, are guided by the principle "the further, the better." But this approach is not always justified. And a sharp change in climate is not beneficial to everyone. Sometimes it is useful to just look around. Chelyabinsk region, for example, has a lot of interesting and unique natural objects. Lake Turgoyak is one of them. In addition, it is located in the climatic zone of the Southern Urals, quite comfortable for most of our compatriots.

Lake Turgoyak, Chelyabinsk region

This is one of the most beautiful reservoirs on the whole Urals. It is located not far from the city of Miass, in the basin between the mountain ranges Ilmen and Ural-Tau. Lake Turgoyak is characterized by a rather large depth and transparency of water. Its purity here is such that the bottom can be seen at a depth of up to twenty meters. According to the characteristics of water from this lake is customary to compare with Baikal. The special purity of the reservoir is explained by the peculiarities of its hydrological regime. Four fairly large rivers flow into the lake, but only one flows out. The water is in a state of constant circulation. Lake Turgoyak is a fairly large reservoir of rounded shape, slightly elongated in the meridional direction. The length of its coastline is 27 kilometers. The maximum depth is 34 meters, the total area of the water surface exceeds 26 square kilometers. Especially for rest, among other things, it makes the surrounding natural landscape. Towards the shore of the lake, mountain slopes, covered with dense relic vegetation, are coming up close. Forests on the banks of the Turgoyak are dominated by coniferous, they are well preserved, traces of their cutting down and other unauthorized interference in the natural environment are not so much as in many other Ural regions. Unconditional tourist attraction is the island of Vera. Lake Turgoyak was once a refuge of the Old Believers, who had gone to the Ural taiga from their pursuers. On the island of the Faith , until the beginning of the twentieth century, there was an Old Believer skete. It is not preserved, but there are a lot of archeological monuments and artifacts, whose age is several thousand years. Archaeologists continue their work here today, each field season on the island brings them new finds.

Recreation bases on Lake Turgoyak

Recreational potential of this place is used very actively. Lake Turgoyak is well known in the Urals. Tourists come here from Chelyabinsk, from Yekaterinburg and from more remote places and cities. Many quite comfortable feel in a tent on the shore of the lake. But for those who do not think their existence at least without the minimal benefits of civilization, there are recreation centers on the coast: "Silver Sands", "Krutiki", hotel-club "Golden Beach". The latter is more suitable for fans of sports recreation: surfing, diving, ATVs and bicycles.
