Lermontov Museum-Reserve "Tarkhany" of the Penza Region: description, photo, how to get

In the north-western part of the Penza region, among the dense forests and green fields, crystal-clear small rivers and ancient groves, there is an ancient village, which today is called Lermontovo. The former village of Tarkhany of the Penza region, namely, there was the estate of Arseniev Mikhail Vasilyevich and Elizaveta Alexeyevna, became the place where the greatest Russian poet Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov spent his childhood and youth. This place became the cradle of a great poet. In what part of the world did the poet's life throw, he always remembered with trepidation his homeland - the land that he raised and on which he spent almost half his life. Here Mikhail Yurievich experienced his first love of anguish, here he found his last refuge. In the family crypt lies the ashes of a genius, and above the building a chapel rises.

The first exposition complex

The museum "Tarkhany" (Penza region), photo of which is presented in our article, consists of three exposition complexes.

The composition of the first includes a manor house. It was built after the death of Lermontov's mother - Maria Mikhailovna. By the way, she was Elizabeth Alekseyevna's only daughter. So, in 1818, erected this estate. In the late 90s of the last century the house underwent a reconstruction. The masters completely recreated the situation, which emphasizes the influence of the manor culture on the development of the poet's personality. It was here that the little boy Misha had to go through a series of happy and sad events: the death of his mother, parting with his father, acquaintance with the basics of art and science, writing the first poetic lines, the first lessons of playing the piano. Mikhail Lermontov wished that his ashes be buried only in Tarkhany. In this complex are unique items: a cigarette maker, a tube, a casket and other personal belongings of the poet; Items that belonged to his grandmother and mother (festive handkerchiefs and the like). Here are some of the genius's artistic works.

Not far from the manor house is the one-dome manor-house church of Mary of Egypt. This monument completely preserved its architecture and was beyond the influence of time. The church is designed in the Empire style. It was built by Elizabeth Alekseevna in honor of her daughter. The building operated until the middle of the 20s of the last century, and today it is simply consecrated and is a monument to the past days.

The second exposition complex

The second part of the exposition of the museum "Tarkhany" of the Penza region represents the church of Archangel Michael. This architectural complex is located in the central part of the village. It was built during the life of my grandmother Mikhail Lermontov. The erection of the church began in 1826. In 1836, in the winter, the poet spent his first officer's vacation at the estate. Then he watched an unfinished church.

The third exposition complex

This manor Apalih. At a distance of three kilometers to the south-west of the village of Tarkhany is the estate of "dear aunt", owned by MA Shan-Girey-Apaliyha - the poet's aunt. The modern manor is a chic park with centuries-old lime trees, the crowns of which are visible from afar. Here all conditions are created for man to merge with nature, to feel it with all his heart. Only here you can admire the transparent springs, listen to the whisper of century-old trees. Since the late 30-ies of the twentieth century, the estate of Tarkhana has become a museum, and since 1969 it has acquired the status of a reserve.

The grave of Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov

The "Tarkhany" estate (now Lermontovo) is the place of repose of the soul and body of the great poet. Originally his ashes were buried in Pyatigorsk, but a year after the burial, he was transported to Lermontovo. There, next to the mother's grave, in the chapel, the son found his eternal refuge. Above the grave of a genius a monument is erected, made of marble of black color. The inscription "Mikhailo Lermontov. 1814-1841. " Near the chapel, huge oak trees grew. After the poet's funeral, his grandmother ordered to dig a few trees in the forest and plant them in front of the chapel, but only one of them was caught from the total number of dug oaks.
