The speed sensor produces about 6000 pulses each kilometer that passes the car.
Between the pulses over a time interval, the controller determines how high the vehicle speed is. In addition, this signal can be used by the speedometer, installed, as usual, on the instrument panel. The speed sensor is installed most often on the gearbox, and specifically - on the mechanism of the speedometer drive. Disassemble it after the contact connector and the cable of the installed speedometer drive are disconnected. It should be noted that this installation is done in a sequence that is completely opposite to the dismantling. This is the principle of the speed sensor.

It happens that the speed sensor has broken, but the cause is not clear. To perform an express check, you need to remove it. But it happens that he does not pull out, frozen, as if tight. In such cases, in no case can not pull out the sensor! So you can only break the knot. It will require a special WD40-liquid. After using it, you can slowly start to rotate it. If the speed sensor starts to turn, then it's easier. However, this is a very long procedure.
