How is the front suspension arm arranged?

The front suspension arm is the guide element of the running gear of every modern car. It ensures the connection and transfer of all forces to the body of the vehicle.

This part is a device connected by one end to the wheel, and the second - to the body. Thanks to this lever, the wheels move vertically, as well as transferring their forces to the frame.

At the moment, there are several types of similar devices:

  • Longitudinal front suspension arm.
  • Transverse.
  • Diagonal.
  • The core.
  • Triangular.

Where is it installed?

As a rule, this mechanism is mounted on cars with independent suspension. The fact is that this running system does not have such a connection between the wheels, as in the dependent (the wheels are connected by means of a tin beam, so they move autonomously from each other). In our case, the suspension assumes the presence of various levers connecting the suspended part of the vehicle with the wheels. Thus, all elements are interrelated.

By the way, in the modern world more and more manufacturers refuse to use the dependent suspension, because it does not have such a high degree of reliability as the second one. Therefore, this technology has remained only with the domestic car industry.

And back to the levers. Now many designers are dealing with multi-link schemes that provide perfect kinematics to tires, stability and good handling of the car. One wheel can be equipped with two or even four levers. However, the more elements on one disc, the more complex and expensive the design will turn out. Therefore, automakers are trying to ensure that one wheel does not have more than a couple of such mechanisms.

When does the car need to replace the front suspension lever ?

This element can fail at any minute, so that on the road there are no troubles, you should regularly diagnose the specified part for serviceability. Fortunately, you can determine its wear and tear on your own. Moreover, all the work will not take you five minutes. In order to find out if the front suspension arm is working properly or not, you need to install the ball joint lever so that the mandrel part for the alignment touches the end of the hinge pin. After this, insert the setting fingers into the outer and middle holes. If this is done effortlessly, the front suspension arm is in good condition. If the fingers enter the hole only with effort, then the part is deformed and must be replaced. You can go and another way - to repair the old one. In this case, a repair kit with all the necessary parts is purchased and a repair process is carried out.

How much is the car front suspension lever?

The price of this device directly depends on the brand of the car. So, the lever of the front suspension VAZ "ninth" and "tenth" family costs about six hundred rubles. On the imported Renault, the same detail will cost at least 3 thousand rubles.
