Theater them. Vakhtangova: repertoire and reviews of the performances

In the heart of Moscow, on Old Arbat Street, is the famous theater. Vakhtangov. One of the most visited cultural centers of the capital is located in a three-story mansion, built in the late 19th century. The founder of the theater, Eugene Bagrationovich Vakhtangov, a faithful disciple and disciple of Stanislavsky, long nurtured the idea of creating a creative workshop for actors without special education. He believed that only an unprofessional actor can play a role in a truly deep and full return.

The troupe of amateur actors was organized in 1913, and soon the first performance of an amateur theater was shown on stage. However, the performance failed, the sophisticated theatergoers in Moscow did not accept the production because of the low level of acting.

"Third studio"

Vakhtangov's failure of the play did not embarrass, and after a while he founded a theater studio, which was part of the Moscow Art Theater. The structure was named "The Third Studio", and it was the beginning of the birth of the Temple of Dramatic Art, which today is known as the Theater of. Vakhtangov.

Under the roof of the "Third Studio" talented actors and actresses began to gather, thinking progressive and full of desire to realize their abilities on stage. A creative team formed around Yevgeny Vakhtangov, ready to stage productions on a professional level.

Thirties

The theatrical world of the capital came alive with the appearance of Vakhtangov. Muscovites were bribed by the sincere desire of the actors to convey to the public the whole deep meaning of the play, to play with all possible authenticity. And since in those years it was customary to stage plays on revolutionary themes, the actors of the Vakhtangov Theater each time argued that they could tackle any worker-peasant plots.

Sometimes the performances of the Vakhtangov Theater were knocked out of the generally accepted revolutionary theme, and then there was some classical production on stage, like, for example, "The Princess Turandot" based on Carlo Gozzi's fairy tale. The premiere took place in the spring of 1922 and made a real sensation.

New time

May 29, 1922 theatrical Moscow was in mourning - the director Vakhtangov died. A talented director and organizer left a worthy legacy behind him. His work was continued by the students, "The Third Studio" received official recognition and became known as the Vakhtangov Theater.

The beginning of the NEP, the political and economic conjuncture - all this required theater performances in the spirit of the new time. And Vakhtangov began to seek opportunities to update the repertoire. So, the theater. Vakhtangov began to cooperate with the then fashionable writer Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov.

The first play was called "Zoykina apartment", it was consonant with the mood of the society of that time and was enthusiastically accepted by the theatrical public. However, it was not without excesses, because the play, although it produced the impression of a carefree comedy, contained a social satire. This did not please the authorities and caused harsh criticism. The cause of the conflict with officials were other productions. "Hamlet", presented to the theatrical public in the style of the buffoonery, was closed, and the director-director Akimov was accused of being apolitical.

Repression

Soon the performances devoted to the NEP came to naught, and in the Moscow theaters began "Leniniana" - an endless series of productions for the glory of the workers 'and peasants' system. The dominance of communist templates became evident, ideology superseded creativity. On the way, there were already Stalinist repressions, which later suffered the actors of the Vakhtangov Theater.

Theater today

Currently, the Academic Theater named after Vakhtangov is one of the most popular and visited in Moscow. Rimas Tuminas, the current artistic director, continues the traditions of his predecessors. The theater follows the canons established at the beginning of the last century by Stanislavsky Konstantin Sergeyevich. For more than ninety years of existence, the troupe, in which more than one generation has changed, has never departed from the foundations bequeathed by the brilliant master.

An unforgettable trail in the history of the theater Vakhtangov left Mikhail Ulyanov, who died in the spring of 2007. He was an irreplaceable artistic director for many years. Theater Moscow will never forget the recently departed Yuri Yakovlev.

Nowadays the living Vakhtangovs: the patriarch of the theatrical scene Vladimir Etush, the legendary Vasily Lanovoi and Kupchenko Irina, Evgeny Knyazev and Vyacheslav Shalevich, young representatives of the dynasty - Victor Sukhorukov and Nonna Grishaeva. There is no cult of worship in the company - all are equal. The artists of the Vakhtangov Theater are a creative team that has developed over the years.

For the Moscow theatrical public it is important to have an opportunity to share impressions after the performance. It has become a tradition to stop in the middle of the street, the good in Old Arbat is the traffic of cars, and discuss the production. Therefore, people, leaving the theater, do not hurry on the subway or other means of transport.
