Theater "Boyarsky Chambers" in Moscow, art-creativity in an unusual space

Several years ago, on the Strastnoy Boulevard , repairs began in one of the buildings. This house was not simple and belonged to the Union of Theater Workers, more precisely STD of the Russian Federation. During the renovation, a semi-basement was discovered, which was so spacious that the idea arose to create a new theater project with the participation of young talents. Graduates of theatrical and director's schools have the opportunity to create spectacles different from classics and to embody their brilliant ideas into life in an unusual and theater-like space.

"Boyar Chambers" on Strastnoy Boulevard

So there was a youth project START UP on Strastnoy Boulevard. This is the address of the Boyar Chambers. The building is located near the metro station "Chekhovskaya". There is no scene familiar to the viewer, the action of plays and the zadumok of young talents unfolds in the same space as the audience. And yet it's a theater. In spite of the unusual new space given to young talents, they tend to think and create unconventionally, going beyond the usual.

"Boyar Chambers" occupy a considerable area. There are arches and a vaulted ceiling, where even a whisper is echoed, an old masonry made of red brick. Arriving in this unusual place, the viewer is immersed in the atmosphere of the performance and as events unfold, together with the artists moves from one space to another.

Youth Council of the STD of the Russian Federation and implementation of projects

Alexander Kalyagin, as chairman of the STD of the Russian Federation, believes that young people need qualified help to realize their talent. For this STD RF organizes a lot of projects, laboratories, master classes aimed at supporting the aspirations of artists. The mission of the Boyars Chambers (STD of the Russian Federation in Moscow) is to unite a multitude of programs that are created specifically for talented people and are oriented toward various theatrical professions.

With the STD of the Russian Federation, the Youth Council was established, which develops and coordinates a platform for fruitful communication and assistance to each other, initiates the creation of new projects.

Theater Vocational School

In June 2016, within the framework of the grant, under the patronage of the Russian president, the first all-Russian project "Theater Vocational School" was realized. It was created especially for those who already have a specialty, but would like to receive additional education and improve their qualifications. The project participants assessed the importance of such training, and the STD of the Russian Federation decided to conduct such a program on a regular basis. Participants will receive the necessary knowledge on scenography, light, sound, multimedia technologies.

Program "Action scene"

The "Boyarsky Chambers" theater in Moscow conducts many interesting performances staged by young filmmakers in the framework of the program "Place of Action". It often shows the classics. For example, Dostoyevsky's novel "Crime and Punishment" is embodied in different interpretations.

A certain budget is allocated for the implementation of the new program, and each participant must develop a sketch of the future performance within just ten days. The program has a competitive basis, and only five creative groups of forty can create laboratory performances. The application must contain a sketch of the performance, which will be further staged in the Boyar Chambers, and the best creations will be able to be rented during the year.

But not only the theater is famous for its performances. It hosts creative evenings, exhibitions of young artists, master classes, concerts. Frequent guests at creative evenings are the famous directors Adolf Shapiro and Vladimir Mirzoyev. Such meetings with the analysis of classical works help to analyze and think. For Adolf Shapiro it is an act of directorial creativity, and the viewers of the Boyars' Chambers have a rare opportunity to observe the artist's skill. Vladimir Mirzoev, one of the heroes of the "End-to-End Action" project, proposes to analyze the genre phenomenon of the theater of the XX century - Pinter dramaturgy.

Festival-forum "Art-migration 2016"

"Boyar Chambers" in Moscow give young talents unlimited opportunities to realize their plans. Another project that stimulates creative resources and the ability to reincarnate young performers is the All-Russian forum-festival "Art-Migration", which is being carried out by the STD of the Russian Federation.

This forum is held specially for graduates-directors who were able to deliver interesting performances outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the festival is to support their creative activity. The project also has a competitive basis, not more than ten groups will be able to participate from a number of applications at the festival. The festival also has a special program, on the basis of which lectures, projects, excursions, presentations are given to eminent directors and theater critics.

Creative internship for young talents

"Creative internship" is another new project of the Boyars Chambers (STD) for young filmmakers and artists, whose age does not exceed 35 years, and they have not only a profile education, but also a desire to develop further in their profession.

This internship will take place in Moscow theaters, and the leading theater directors will be the leaders to develop cultural ties and creative mobility. In this project trainees will participate free of charge, and a non-resident will receive a scholarship and will pay for hotel accommodation. In 2017, you can go through the theater internship with Kirill Serebrennikov, Robert Sturua, Boris Konstantinov. For the artists of the theater, the Union of Theater Workers will prepare a separate program of creative internships.
