Weaknesses of "Suzuki SH4": technical characteristics, test drive

The car "Suzuki SH4" debuted in 2006. The company introduced its new model in the Geneva showroom. Its full name is Sport Crossover 4x4 Seasons, however it was rarely used in wide circles. At the beginning of the development, the Japanese company decided to unite with the Italian "Fiat". The result of joint work was Suzuki SX4, in Italy - Sedici. The car is still in demand on the Russian market. He fell in love with the owners, first of all, because of the cost, which was coupled with a good cross-country model.

However, over time, the weak spots of Suzuki SH4 became known: design, tightness in the cabin, increased noise level, rigid suspension, and the comfort of passengers in general can not be mentioned. However, the price policy of the car took over and contributed to the increase in sales. Why did it happen? And the fact is that along with the above disadvantages there are some characteristics, in the presence of which the flaws no longer seem so weighty.

It is worth paying attention to the reduction in height by 30 mm. The clearance of 180 mm allows you to confidently pass the most difficult sections of the road.

More convenient was the front passenger, whose seat now, just like the driver's seat, is adjusted in height. The front is at least a bit harsh, but the support on the sides is beyond praise.

Depending on the configuration, you can enjoy the panoramic sunroof, as well as everything that is characteristic of a modern car. We are talking, of course, about the navigation system, xenon illumination, parktronics. The manufacturer did not forget about climate control in two zones. Among the pluses is also excellent visibility, which is provided by relatively narrow body racks and large mirrors.

We find disadvantages

Given the subjectivity of opinions from the side, the machine began to look much more modern. However, the weak spots of "Suzuki CX4" are still quite pronounced. First of all, there are complaints about the design of the radiator grille, but this lack, according to numerous opinions, gives the very "zest", revealing the face of the machine. There are some disputes about the shape of the hood. But also this component adds the appearance of SX4 modernity.

If you analyze the shortcomings of the cabin, the first thing that catches your eye is cheap upholstery. The manufacturer decided not to use expensive materials. This drawback was offset by design. In some parts of the interior there is even a soft plastic. In general, the interior looks very simple, but pretty decent.

The main points that affect the cost of cars

• A special assessment deserves ergonomics. "Suzuki SH4" (price from 1 million rubles) in this criterion deserves a solid "five" and one of the highest places in its class.

But with all this, we must pay tribute to the economy of the engine. This is 8-9 liters per 100 km in the city cycle and 6 liters along the highway. The car has an all-wheel drive mode, which creates advantages when traveling on snow and dirt.

Short review of defects

• It is worth noting an extremely low level of noise insulation, in which almost any sound of both the engine and the wheels can be heard in the passenger compartment.
• The suspension is set up at first sight not bad, but the weak spots of the "Suzuki SX4" are serious irregularities on the road, at the moment of movement they can feel knocking and vibration.
• Manageability is fairly certain, but at high speeds there is a buildup.

Another reason for the low demand for Suzuki SX4

The current price policy of this model makes the SX4 much more affordable than its competitors. After all, the maximum configuration will cost the consumer only 1.2 million rubles. Such a price for a well-equipped crossover is quite an acceptable indicator.

So what does influence the low sales of the model? And the fact is that at the time the car entered the market, the price difference with the previous version of the car was too noticeable. And in combination with the low variability of ICE, the competitiveness of the new model was low.

"Suzuki SH4" (engine 1.6 with a "mechanics") is a worthy choice. The driver gains advantages when overclocking and in fuel economy.
