Ceramic Veneers

The technology of restoration of teeth with ceramic veneers appeared in the 30s of the last century. Then famous Hollywood actors and prominent politicians used this technique, however, the achievements of dentistry of that time did not allow to achieve a long-term effect. In the 80-ies of the twentieth century, some progress was made in this direction, and already today anyone can use the vinyl with a calculation for 10-25 years of operation.

To date, the main indications for the installation of ceramic veneers include:

• Changes or loss of color in the teeth associated with the effects of various drugs, as well as various diseases and the results of their subsequent treatment;
• Developmental abnormalities, abnormal or disproportionate shape of the teeth, as well as abnormalities in the structure and surface of the tooth enamel;
• Slight deviations in the symmetry of the location of the teeth;
• Diastema and others.

Ceramic veneers are thin plates of a certain shape that are installed on pre-prepared teeth. That is why this method of restoration is also called indirect.

In preparation for the vinification, the doctor conducts a thorough examination of the condition of the restored teeth and can prescribe the treatment of available diseases, in which the procedure is unacceptable. After this, the enamel is grinded in order to ensure the fixation of the cosmetic insert on the tooth.

The next step in the procedure is to create a mold of the patient's teeth using a special plastic material. For this, the veneers are made in the dental laboratory themselves, after which they are applied directly in the mouth of the patient.

It should be noted that in the process of creating cosmetic inserts, according to the data agreed with the patient, the tint of the facing material is selected. The degree of compliance of the result with the requested depends both on the quality of the ceramic composition used in the work, and on the skill of the specialist who was directly involved in the manufacture of veneers.

Before installation, the dentist must make sure that the ceramic veneers fit perfectly on the prepared teeth and do not cause the patient any inconvenience. If this is not the case, the necessary correction is carried out. During the installation, a special gel and cementing composition is used, which ensures reliable fixation of ceramic inserts on the surface of the tooth enamel.

Do not forget that the term of manufacturing ceramic veneers takes about 2 weeks. Since a sufficiently large amount of tooth enamel is removed from the tooth, it becomes sensitive to temperature. In order to relieve the patient of the inconveniences associated with this, temporary lining inserts are installed on the teeth with a special composition having a low viscosity. Thus, they can then be easily removed and fixed.

And finally, it should be noted that the ceramic inserts, despite their strength and reliability of installation, are more of a cosmetic role. As a result, the patient should give up smoking, and also reduce the intake of excessively solid foods (nuts, seeds, candies, etc.). Also for the restored teeth, shocks and increased loads should be avoided.
