Case in the yard, or where the cats have a rumble

In the sun-warmed glade, the pre-school boy was bored, and next to them he squinted and a huge gray cat hummed silently and quietly.

- I wonder, but where are the cats? - Vanechka thought aloud.

"Probably between the ears," Lyubochka answered hesitantly and stroked Vaska on the head. The cat narrowed his eyes even more , and his purring became a little louder.

"No," Leon nodded in a lazy conversation. - Cats rumbled with ribs. Here look. He began to squeeze the rib cough lightly. The murmur grew a little louder when the tomboy weakened the pressure, and subsided when the boy pressed harder. However, a second later the cat moved aside and slightly released its claws. His lazy and languid look before him became cold and steadfast.

- I do not know where the cats have a rumble, but not exactly on the ribs, - interceded for the cat Lyubochka. She gently held her hand over the fluffy fur and cat Vaska again quite purred.

"Why are you silent, Sasha?" - the question of where the cats have a rumble, seriously interested in Vanya. He looked hopefully at Sasha, whom preschool children were respected for their discretion. "Your dad is an assistant professor, you definitely need to know where the cats have a rumble." Polished Sasha carefully examined the lying Vaska and decided to conduct an experiment. He took a bun with a sausage from his pocket and handed it to the cat. Lazy before that, Vaska jumped brightly and with a loud purring he began to destroy the sausage. He was so loud and quite purring that it seemed to the kids that a small tractor had started working nearby.

"Everything is clear," said the sensible Sasha with an intelligent air. "Now I understand where the cat has a rumble." He's in the stomach. The fuller the stomach, the louder he rumbles, therefore ... But then, the almost seven-year-old Edik, who had been silent until then, intervened in the conversation.

- Firstly, it's not a cat, it's a cat. Her kittens stayed in our entrance. Secondly, not a rumble-maker, but a murchalnik. Thirdly, the murchalnik is in her throat. She talks to them like that.

- In the ribs!

- In a stomach!

- In the ears!

The children probably would have quarreled, but fortunately, Uncle Vikenty passed by the clearing at that moment. The children respected him for the long and difficult name, and also because he always talked with them, as with real adults. The children rushed to Vikenty with screams.

"Uncle Vikenty, uncle Vikenty!" And tell me, where is the cat? What is she so loudly murching? Why does not meow? Why would she do that?

Dumbfounded by such pressure, Vikenty stopped. Then he looked at Vaska, who turned out to be Vasilisa and, as it turned out later, the mother of three charming kittens. Picking up a beautiful fluffy creature, Vikenty spoke.

- For many years scientists are trying to find out why cats purr and how they do it. Here is a person, for example, talking with the help of vocal chords. And cats and cats do not. But this does not prevent them from meowing and humming . Cats are purring their kittens. Kittens express this joy and love for their mother with this sound. And also cats and cats so express pleasure. Some people try to cure an abusive host. Scientists who are called zoologists (Vikenty always remembered the age of the interlocutors and tried to explain clearly), found that their purring helps even the broken bones to fuse faster. A rumbling is formed between the throat and the diaphragm - just like, scientists do not yet know. But you can say that the rumble is somewhere inside the cat.

The explanation of Vikenty was interrupted: Marishka appeared on the new bicycle in the courtyard and the children, not saying goodbye to Vikenty, jerked to it: everyone wanted to ride.
