Without potatoes, virtually no feast and no daily food intake, because to this product you can serve virtually anything: meat, fish, vegetables, sauces, etc. Potatoes are almost an ideal nutritious product, and the calorie content of potatoes, boiled or roasted, depends, in the main, on what this potato is served and how it is cooked.

Crude potatoes, for example, contain 70 calories per 100 g of product. This is quite a bit, considering that a person needs to consume, on average, 1200-1500kcal per day. Caloric content of potatoes boiled is not much higher - only 75-80kcal. But the potato in its uniform calorie content is less than raw potatoes - about 66kcal. Therefore, those for whom the number of calories is important, potatoes in uniform - the best option: and you do not need to clean before cooking, and you will not get well if you eat a couple of pieces. But the baked potatoes in their uniform calorie content is the same as boiled potatoes - 80kcal. Peel from any potato in a uniform is better to remove before eating potatoes. Some believe that there are a lot of vitamins in the peel, but this is not true: all the vitamins from the rind go to the potato, and toxins with pesticides remain.

From fried potatoes, if a large piece of meat is not attached to it, it is also unlikely that you can recover, since the fried potatoes contain 150kcal. All the other calories are in the meat. It's worth to be careful with French fries. This dish is prepared in a huge amount of oil, which increases the calorie content of potatoes to 400kcal.

Favorite by many chips can already be attributed to the category of harmful products. First, except for the producers, no one really knows how and what they actually do, and secondly, 100g of delicious and crispy chips contain as much as 500kcal! Two or three small packets of chips - and you do not need calories for today, despite the fact that there is still a desire. Chips, unlike boiled or fried potatoes, do not cause feelings of satiety, because they consist mainly of carbon, which very much likes to be deposited in those places in whose name you work so actively in the gym.

It is better not to be lazy and cook yourself a little mashed potatoes. Its calorie content is higher than the calorific value of the boiled potatoes, because butter and milk are added in the puree, and the calorie-mashed potatoes contain about 300kcal, but still it is better and more useful than eating chips.

It is useful to know that in the smallest quantity of calories the potato contains when it is young. Young potatoes have a lot of protein and few carbohydrates. The human body can not process protein into fat, so the energy that the body produces for digesting young potatoes almost completely covers the potato's energy value. Consequently, using fresh potatoes in their pure form, the chances of getting better are reduced to a minimum.

But the longer the potato is stored, the more starch accumulates in it, which is the same carbohydrate in its pure form. Therefore, the calorific value of the potato boiled, but not very young, is higher. And if you use it in large quantities, and even in combination with fatty foods, then there is the risk of gaining extra pounds.

And finally, a few interesting facts about potatoes. So, for example, the most expensive potatoes in the world are grown on the small French island of Noirmoutier. The tubers of this potato are so tender that they collect it exclusively by hand, so a kilogram of this delicate variety costs about 500 euros. And in Ireland, potatoes are considered an excellent aphrodisiac, which increases sexual activity.
