Where did this dish come from? The very word "lecho" came to us from Greece. In Hellas, it is called a local snack, which must include sweet peppers, tomatoes and onions. She is eaten with spoons, and also used as a very spicy addition to some other dish, for example, from meat. In addition, lecho can be used as the basis of soup.

Such a tasty and popular snack any table will make even more appetizing and beautiful. Therefore, we will consider how to prepare lecho homely. There are quite a few options. Their differences are in taste (acute or sweet) and in consistency (thick or liquid). There may also be some minor deviations in the components included in this dish. In addition to the standard, can include more cheese and sausage, eggs. No wonder they say that the taste and color of a friend is not. Nevertheless, the most popular and common is the recipe for such pepper food, which has a sweet taste.

Consider the preparation of lecho at home. In order to make 3.2 liters of a dense delicacy, you need to prepare the following ingredients: tomatoes (3 kg), sweet Bulgarian pepper (8 pieces of medium size), granulated sugar (200 grams), garlic (five teeth), salt (one tablespoon ).

The process of preparing a dish is not too simple and fast, it consists of seven stages. But there is nothing particularly complicated in it. To prepare lecho at home, you need to do the following:

  1. Wash, peel and cut into small pieces of tomatoes - half of the amount available. This billet will be our base for tomato paste.
  2. We cook, stirring occasionally, tomatoes.
  3. We are engaged in the preparation of pepper. Thoroughly wash, cleanse of seeds and cut into pieces of this size, which we will enjoy in a fully prepared snack. What it will be - cubes or slices - remains at personal discretion.
  4. We process the remaining tomatoes. We cut them into pieces of the desired size and send them to tomato paste.
  5. Add the garlic, salt and two thirds of sugar to the mixture.
  6. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. At the end of the process, we pour the finished lecho into the previously sterilized jars and close them with lids. Then we put the jars upside down and wrap them on top with a warm blanket or blanket.

For a change, you can make a Hungarian lecho of Bulgarian pepper. Ingredients: sliced pepper (1.4 kg), tomatoes (0.6 kg), onions (two heads), paprika (five grams), pork fat (80 grams), smoked bacon (50 grams), salt.

And now tell you how to prepare lecho homely in this version. Wide stripes cut the washed and peeled Bulgarian pepper. Tomatoes for a few seconds lowered into boiling water, carefully peeled off them and cut into four parts. Onions cut into half rings.
