"ZIL-4104". A representative class car manufactured by the plant. Likhachev

"ZIL-4104", a car with a body type "limousine" of the executive class, was produced at the Likhachev plant in the period from 1978 to 1983. The original name of the car was "ZIL-115".

From 1983 to 1985 inclusive, the model was produced "ZIL-41045", and later, from 1986 to 2002 - "ZIL-41047". There were no significant differences with the basic model, except for small details of the exterior bodywork. All technical parameters remained unchanged. The name change was rather symbolic, as it was necessary to carry out the planned task to improve the produced cars.

"ZIL-4104": technical specifications

The car was assembled in a limousine-type body mounted on a powerful frame with spars of a closed loop. The front wings were removable, the rear wings were welded. The seven-seater salon with three rows of seats was separated by a special soundproof glass partition, and so the interior space of the car was divided into two completely autonomous parts.

The second row of seats reclined with the help of noiseless hinges and was placed close to the dividing wall. Thus, considerable space was freed in the rear sector, which was used for freer communication of passengers traveling in the back seat.

Since the "ZIL" - a car of a representative class, in the cabin were installed all kinds of media and entertainment devices. Among the equipment of the salon was a stereo radio receiver of the all-wave range, supplemented by a tape recorder. The sound was provided by six speakers mounted around the perimeter of the internal space.

All the glasses in the car were thickened - like "triplex", unbreakable, with toning. Windows in the doors were raised and lowered using an electric drive equipped with an emergency Stop-Drive sensor.

All the details of the body were adjusted manually, after assembly the whole structure was painted in 9-10 layers with intermediate polishing of the next layer. When the car was painted, the interior was filled with accessories: the floor was carpeted, the seats were covered with quality velor, the door panels were also covered with similar material, but with a different tone. The interior of the car turned out so elegant and elegant, that there was a definition - "style of the model 4104 ZIL". The car became an example for imitation.

The "ZIL-4104" model was equipped with a petrol engine of increased power. Behind the running and speed parameters were carefully monitored in every possible way to maintain the high reputation of the machine.

Transmission

The car was equipped with an automatic transmission of a hydrotransformer type with a planetary three-speed gearbox. The lever selector is located between the front seats, the whole system is blocked by a mechanical stop, in fact, it is an effective hand brake. Unlocking occurs automatically when starting off.

Chassis

The front suspension of the machine is independent, without pivots, on double wishbones, with a bar of lateral stability. As a cushioning device, reducing the swing, we used a torsion 28-mm section, located along the frame channel.

The rear suspension is dependent, on long (1550 mm) semi-elliptic springs with gaskets between the sheets. On all wheels, telescopic oil shock absorbers were installed.

Brake system

The car "ZIL-4104" was equipped with disc ventilated brakes on all wheels. The front discs are 292 mm in diameter, 33 mm thick, the rear discs are 316 mm in diameter, and 32 mm in thickness.

The hydraulic drive, divided into two independent circuits, operated on all wheels simultaneously. With the failure of one branch, the absence of brakes was not felt, the function was automatically compensated by a spare line. The system was provided by a main vacuum amplifier and two autonomous hydro vacuum ones. A parking brake of the drum type was built into the hubs of the rear wheel disks.

Modifications

On the basis of "ZIL-4104" several modifications of various purposes were created:

  • Model 41041, an escort vehicle, with a shorter wheelbase. Reducing the length and weight of the machine significantly improved its maneuverability and gave high dynamic properties.
  • "ZIL-41042" - a sanitary version for the transportation of senior officials to medical institutions. The car was only black and was serviced by a team of three qualified doctors. In the cabin there was no reanimation equipment, only a stretcher located in the middle.
  • Modification 41043 - the car of special communication, was issued on the basis of 41042, the versatile person. On the roof was a rotating parabolic antenna for government communications, and the body was shielded to avoid electronic interference.
  • "ZIL-41044" - a ceremonial phaeton for transportation of the Minister of Defense and the commander of the parade on Red Square. In total, three cars were produced, one of which was in reserve.
  • Modification 41045 - everything remained unchanged, but from the body removed the brilliant moldings, chrome linings from wheel arches, other elements that adorn the car. This was caused by the replacement of the CPPS secretary general in 1983.

Soviet cars

The USSR auto industry of 1955-1975 was held at three operating plants: Gorky (GAZ), Likhachev Plant (ZIL), Stalin Plant (ZIS), which produce trucks and cars of the representative class. In general, the "Soviet limousines" were quite competitive and reliable.

Representative class cars - list:

Currently, for collectors, models of Soviet cars of the representative class are produced in full range, at a scale of 1:43, which is the most common in the mock-up production.
