Zebra Cake Recipe

Who in childhood did not try a funny and delicious striped cake called Zebra? The recipe for a zebra cake is so simple that my mother made it to us for tea, when my brother and I begged her for something tasty. In addition, it does not require any specific products, but consists of those that are always in the refrigerator.

The recipe for a zebra cake is suitable for young inexperienced housewives, who decided to surprise their relatives with culinary skills, but never had any business with baking.

How to bake a zebra cake?

For preparation we need the following ingredients:

- eggs of chicken 5 pieces

- Butter 100 g

- sour cream 200 g.

- granulated sugar 200 g.

- flour 2 cups

- one bag of baking powder for 10 g.

- cocoa powder 1 tbsp.

Preparation of Zebra cake begins with the preparation of a light dough. To do this, we take the eggs, pour them into a deep bowl, add the sugar there and mix it well together, you can beat it a little with a whisk so that the sugar dissolves completely. Further, separately melt the oil on low heat and pour out to the egg mixture. Then add baking powder, sour cream and flour. All thoroughly mix to a homogeneous consistency. The dough should turn out to be liquid, as for sundresses, so that it can be poured with a spoon.

When the light dough is ready, divide it into two equal parts, pouring half into another container. In one of the parts, add cocoa powder and mix. We got a chocolate dough.

Now take a baking tray or baking dish and lubricate it well with vegetable oil. Then we start gradually pouring the dough in turns, then light, then dark. We start by pouring a spoonful of light dough into the center of the mold, and then we pour a spoon of dark dough into the center of the light dough, and so on. It gradually spreads, and cheerful strips are obtained.

We place the filled form in the oven, preheated at 180 degrees, for about half an hour or 40 minutes. Readiness can be checked with a match or a toothpick. Just stick a match into the thickness of the cake, the dough should not stick to it, and it should easily come in and out. If the dough sticks to the match, then it's too early to take the cake, you need to bring it to the ready, so that it will be well poured.

When the cake is ready, it can be immediately served warm for tea. On the cut, it will have a striped appearance, which is why it got its name.

But, if you have a little more time and desire, you can dream up and make the usual recipe for Zebra cake for tea with a festive beautiful cake. There are several tested options on how this can be done, and using products that are always at hand in the kitchen, and I'll share them with you.

Since the recipe for Zebra cake assumes that the dough should be sweet, you can make a sweet and sour cream and spread it over our cake. At the same time, the ready-made striped cake is cut into two halves along, so that two biscuits are obtained instead of one, and inside they are smeared with cream. The cream in this case can be made on sour cream with sugar, but add cherry or currant jam, or some other sour jam, then you will get an advantageous combination of sour and sweet tastes. As a rule, this is a pleasant combination, and everyone likes that the cake is not so lusciously sweet.

If you are a sweet tooth, and prefer that the cake is very sweet, you can prepare for it liquid chocolate or chocolate glaze, which also soaks both cakes and is also poured on top. This is delicious yummy!
