Why does the child vomit and what do the parents do?

Sometimes there are situations in which even experienced parents are lost. One of these cases is when the child is vomiting, and not once or twice, but repeatedly. What's happening? What is the reason? Also what it is possible to make immediately to help the kid?

Vomiting in children is not a disease - it's a symptom. She can talk about problems with the gastrointestinal tract or metabolism, and also sometimes indicates the following diseases:

- infectious: rotaviruses, enteritis, meningitis;

- flowing with a temperature above 39 degrees (the child is tearing it from hyperthermia): influenza, acute respiratory infections, purulent infections, for example, angina, pneumonia, purulent otitis, etc .;

- acute appendicitis;

- violations in the work of the central nervous system, especially in infants of the first half of life, who had traumas at birth (asphyxia);

- neurotic reactions;

Poisoning;

- Dysbiosis.

Sometimes a child vomits after taking certain drugs. Typically, such a reaction to them is described in the section "Adverse Effects". Of course, when she appears, the medication is immediately stopped and they seek a replacement.

What is vomiting?

Vomiting refers to a very rapid ejection of all that is contained in the digestive tract due to active contraction of the muscles of the stomach, the anterior abdominal wall, and also the diaphragm.

In infants who are less than three months old, there is often a regurgitation of 50 to 30 ml of food. This does not mean that the child is vomiting, and poses no danger to his health. To avoid this phenomenon, it is enough after feeding to hold the baby vertically for ten to fifteen minutes to free the stomach from the accumulated air.

If a child tears a fountain, and regularly and from an early age (2-4 weeks of life), it is necessary to exclude such functional disorders as pyloric stenosis or pilorospasm. The first is the congenital malformation of the stomach, and the second is the pyloric spasm. Both of these diseases require medical correction.

A frequent cause of vomiting is acute gastritis. Infection penetrates the body with poor-quality or stale food and acts directly on the mucous membrane of the stomach. The most common pathogens are salmonella, E. coli, staphylococcus. There are also shigella with klebsiella, causing dysentery. For any reason, the consequence is one - dehydration and intoxication of the child's organism, occurring very quickly. The condition requires immediate treatment.

Before the arrival of the doctor, parents can take such measures: rinse the stomach to a patient to clean water with 0.5-1% solution of baking soda, give more drink, but in small portions. It is best to bottle out the baby with a rehydrone, a table with mineral water, oralite or a solution of salt and glucose.

Sometimes the digestive tract is all right, and it's not at all clear why the baby is vomiting. This happens more often with older children. In this situation, you should think about migraines. This disease can give a similar reaction.

It also sometimes happens that older children react with vomiting to undesirable actions of others: punishment, forced feeding, psychological pressure and coercion. Usually the symptoms are accompanied by a refusal to eat or great selectivity in it, stubbornness and other changes in behavior. Emotional, easily excitable children with a vulnerable psyche are subject to such disorders . With neurotic reactions, there is no abdominal pain, intoxication, nausea, or upset of the stool. The child's well-being remains normal. This condition is treated by psychotherapists, sometimes prescribing antidepressants or sedatives.

In addition, vomiting can indicate diabetes mellitus, helminthic invasions, etc. Therefore, a doctor should be consulted with such a symptom, at least in order to conduct an ultrasound of the abdominal cavity and UAC, and calm down if everything is in order.
