How to sew a pillowcase

In each house there are many different pillows. Some of them we use to sleep. Others are a decorative element of the interior, and on the third it's so convenient to sit on the floor when watching a movie or reading an interesting book. But whatever function each pillow performs, it needs periodic updating. Therefore, you should know how to sew a pillowcase that will protect it from contamination and change the appearance.

In fact, this is a very simple and fascinating exercise. It is enough to know a few subtleties and use a little instruction. In this case, in just an hour you will have a real masterpiece. But let's look at this process step-by-step.

How to sew a pillowcase on a pillow for sleeping?

  1. We determine the size of our pillow. It can be square or rectangular. We take the size of 50x50 centimeters for the basis and we will sew a pillowcase with a smell.
  2. We make a pattern. It will consist of a rectangle divided into three parts, with dimensions of 120x50. Two parts will be 50 centimeters, and for a smell 20 centimeters are enough.
  3. On the prepared cut of fabric, lay out our pattern and circle it with chalk, adding 1.5 cm for each cut. We cut out the pillowcase.
  4. Sew the short sides of the rectangle.
  5. We spread the fabric on the table face up. On the made marks put our details inside, wrapping all over again the most part, and then a smell. We fix the needles, while simultaneously equalizing the slices.
  6. Pave straight line at a distance of 1 centimeter from the cut and process the finished seam on the overlock. If you do not have an overlock, you can make a seam in the hem.
  7. We turn the finished product to the front and iron. Sewing a pillowcase made of cotton is not difficult. To do this, you do not need to use a large cut of fabric. According to a pre-prepared pattern, you can cut each part of a separate piece of fabric and sew different parts with each other.

How to sew a pillowcase with a lock?

Take the dimensions of the pillow 50x50 centimeters. We need a 100x50 tissue cut or two 50x50 squares. This will depend on whether you have the necessary pieces. Also, an all-in-one zipper with a length of 45 centimeters is required.

We cut out two details of the pattern. We fold them face-down inside and we rub on three sides. On the fourth side, it is enough to stitch 4 centimeters on each side, leaving the main part open. We process seams on an overlock or a zigzag line. We turn the pillowcase on the front side. In the opened part of a pillowcase we sew a lock.

How to sew a pillowcase with shuttlecock and lock?

We use the previous version. Shuttlecock can be made from basic, finishing fabric or decorative lace. Since the perimeter of our pillowcase is 200 centimeters, we need 3 meters of finished lace.

We cut out two squares from the main fabric with dimensions 50x50 centimeters. Finished lace stitched in a ring and pbrarivaem on the thread. We fold one piece of pillowcases and lace with the inside sides and grasp, evenly distributing the decorative creases around the perimeter of the pillowcases. Next, we add the two details of the pillowcases with the front sides inward and grind off, leaving an open cut for the lock. We turn the pillowcase on the front side and straighten the lace. We sew the lock. Our product is ready.

How to sew a pillowcase in a scrappy technique?

For this purpose, you can use a variety of scraps that are in every home. You can make a certain drawing of them or sew in random order. The finished patchwork should be slightly larger than the pattern of the pillowcase. Be sure to iron the fabric well before you cut it out. We sew the pillowcase in the order described above.
