At the first stage of creating the product, we tonify the ends of the block, as well as our future cover, cut from the paper. Then it is attached to the fly leaf by double-sided adhesive tape. And in the blocks, as in the cover itself, you can insert metal eyelets. As a result, we will get small holes through which you can stretch a bright decorative ribbon and beautifully tie it from above. Even when there is no sewing machine - it does not matter, small pieces of fabric are perfectly sewn and hand-made. Cloth for the wrong side of the product can be taken easier, for the front - more elegant and expensive. At hand, of course, you should have pins, needles, threads and scissors, without which not a single textile product will not work.

During the manufacturing process, we cut the fabric, obtaining two identical rectangles of the same size. The smaller side of each should correspond to the height of the notebook with the addition of a couple of centimeters to the allowances and about 5 millimeters to free fit. The long side of the rectangle is equal to twice the width of the notepad to which its thickness is added, five centimeters on each side to the turnstiles and one centimeter to the seam allowances.

Further technology of work

Both rectangles are folded face-down inside on short sides, are stitched in the centimeter from the edge, are turned out, flattened and smoothed out with an iron. Then the workpiece is applied to the notebook itself, the lapels are inserted between the endplates and adjusted until it reaches an equal length. Four corners are punctured without touching the front side. The workpiece is turned inside out, sewed along the long sides also with an indent of 1 cm, and you should remember to leave a non-stitched section with a length of five centimeters for subsequent eversion.

For reliability, the edge can be detached with a zigzag. Then, through the left hole, the cover is turned out, and the gap itself is sewn with a hidden seam. Corners straightened and carefully ironed. If necessary, decorations and decorative elements are sewn on top according to the principles described above. Sometimes you want to present a gift to a person that looks expensive and prestigious, but at the same time it will be made by yourself. A leather-bound notepad is suitable for such purposes. It is always useful for daily records. The cover for the notebook itself can be decorated with a drawing (for example, based on the game in tanks or any other - your choice). Techniques in this case are used the same.

Well, if you have in stock a flap of genuine leather, the size of which is 30 x 45 cm, but you can get by with a quality leatherette. If you plan to do the sheets of the future notebook yourself, then you should stock up on A4 size paper (about 50 sheets + 2 on the fly-sheets), and some of them should be put aside for storage. For quality, the most common white paper that is used in printers is quite suitable. On the fly-leaves and the counterfoil will go the cardboard, you can take not the most dense, and on the cover - thick and hard.

What else would you need?

Still need to be a pair of strips of not too thick fabric about 15 centimeters in length and about three meters wide, a 30 millimeter tube of "Moment" glue and synthetic threads of beige or black. The tools and materials will be a file or file, an awl, a ruler with scissors, a pen, as well as acrylic paints for painting on fabric and a thin brush for working with them. And also - instant coffee. With it, the paper can be aged. But if you prefer white sheets, this procedure is omitted. For aging, make a coffee solution: to a liter of water, add the spoons of five instant coffee. The more it is, the darker our sheets will turn out. Do not forget that when dried, they will inevitably brighten a couple of tones.

How to paint paper

The resulting solution should be poured into a suitable container of the right size (basin or rectangular pan with high bumps). We soak the sheets separately, dipping into coffee and turning for a uniform coloring. While they remain in solution (this is about a quarter of an hour), we spread the newspapers on the floor and then we put our sheets on them to dry. Repeat the procedure, loading in a container of new portions of paper, until all the sheets will take a pleasant light brown tint. Newspapers will have to be changed frequently, but it is better to lay out the sheets for drying at night - by the morning they are usually quite dry.

Then they should be sewn into a notepad, collecting 5 sheets and bending each bundle in half. Do not forget to check the evenness of the edges. Thus, we get 10 small tetradochek. All of them should be packed in a pile, aligned and pressed press. It is possible to sustain them so from half an hour to several hours. We extract it from under the press, level it, press it again, inserting cardboard boxes from below to make holes for the needle. However, you can pierce the sheets with an awl or a thick needle, but not the fact that everything will turn out very smoothly and neatly.

How to make a binding

We mark the cardboard with divisions of 3 centimeters, near each we make incisions of small depth. It turns out that we sawed at the same time the whole pack of our paper. In this case, the work should be done fairly neatly. Then the sheets are stitched together with a needle with a strong thread. At each stage, the thread should be stretched properly, and care should be taken to avoid breaking the paper pages. In the middle, we lay pieces of cloth to attach the block to the fly leaf. Sewing all the notebooks into a single unit, pasting it in the area of the root, for this purpose we align again, fix it with clamps and gently spread the adhesive along the spine without surplus and dry unshielded places. When the block dries, only the leather cover remains. For a notebook to do it yourself will not be difficult.

Get to the cover

If you do not agree to work with other material, you will need some experience. In addition, conventional tools for the fabric are indispensable here. Having at your disposal pieces of leather and suede, as well as the right size pattern, a couple of sheets of cardboard, glue and the right tools, you can get to work. We measure the fly-leaf of the future notebook and cut the skin according to the received size with a mandatory allowance of one and a half centimeters. If you transfer (and this is done with a laser printer), you do not plan a finished drawing on the surface, there is another option for decorating.

On a thick cardboard draw and carefully cut figurines, stylized, for example, under flowers, hearts or any other three-dimensional shapes. A cardboard flower or something else is glued on the cover, and on top of it - another leather or suede fragment. We take a blunt knife and forcibly force the contour of our flower, then you can gently cut the joint of two leather parts (upper and lower) in the form of a fringe. In this case, you do not need to use glue.

How to decorate it

The cover for the notebook from the skin with their own hands is decorated by opening holes in it and attaching them with small leather stripes-tendrils made of suede, leather, flowers or other decorative elements. Antennae should be gently pushed into the hole and fixed with glue on the wrong side. Having finished decorating the outer part of the cover, we will fit the allowances inside, fabricate and attach the lining and, if necessary, we will make pockets into which business cards can be placed.
