Sulfacil sodium

The drug "Sulfacil sodium bufus" is available in the form of eye drops. The concentration of the active substance in it is 20%. The medicine is produced in a tube of droppers of various volumes and in the form of an ointment for external use. The international nomenclature name of the active drug is sulfacetamide. This medicine is supplied in the form of eye drops of 20% in the tube-droppers for one milliliter and one and a half milliliters, as well as in polymer tubes-droppers, one and one and a half milliliters, packed in cardboard boxes with a capacity of one to 100 syringes.

The drug "Sulfacil sodium" has the chemical name N - [(aminophenyl) sulfonyl] acetamide sodium salt.

pharmachologic effect

This sulfanilamide antimicrobial agent with a bacteriostatic effect. The action of the drug "Sulfacil sodium" is due to the inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, competitive antagonism to PABA, and the introduction of disorders in the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid.

The drug shows activity against Escherichia, shigella, cholera vibrio, clostridia, bacillus, corynebacterium, yersini, chlamydia, actinomycetes and toxoplasm.

The medication "Sulfacil sodium sodium albucide" is mainly local, but through a damaged conjunctiva, a certain amount of the drug can be absorbed into the systemic bloodstream.

Indications for use

Use this drug for various infectious inflammatory eye diseases, such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, corneal ulcer purulent, gonorrheal infection of the eye. The drug is also used to prevent neonatal blennery.

Contraindication for the use of this drug is hypersensitivity to some of its components.

The drug is used to treat adults this way: it is instilled in two to three drops of a tube of a dropper every four to five hours into conjunctival sacs of the affected eyes.

Newborns for the prevention of blenergy - two drops immediately after birth, two hours later - two more.

Ointment for the eyelid is laid from three to four times a day.

Side effect is local irritation, which is manifested by itching, swelling and reddening of the eyelids. In case of appearance of such symptoms, the dose of the drug is recommended to be reduced to safe.

Special Recommendations

1) If the patient uses soft contact lenses, they must be removed before using the medication, and they can be re-inserted no earlier than fifteen to twenty minutes after instillation.

2) It is forbidden to use this drug at one time with topical medicaments containing silver salts.

3) Patients who have a history of hypersensitivity to sulfanylourea derivatives, such as, for example, glibenclamide, thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide, can give the same reactions to the drug "Sulfacil sodium".

Before you start instillation of eye drops, you need to hold the bottle-dropper in the palm to warm it to body temperature. After the vial is opened, the medicine can be used for four weeks, after which the bottle with it will need to be replaced with a new one. After application, the vial with the preparation must be screwed tight and stored in a place protected from direct sunlight at a temperature of 8-15 degrees Celsius.
