Symptoms of paraproctitis: what they are, and how to treat the disease itself

Paraproctitis is a purulent inflammation that develops in fatty tissue, which is located around the rectum and anal sphincter. It can be chronic or acute. Acute paraproctitis occurs with the formation of suppuration in adipose tissue. The chronic can be manifested by the pararectal fistula or fistula that surrounds the anus, and in most cases is formed after the acute paraproctitis has been transferred.

Forms of acute paraproctitis

Each of the forms of acute paraproctitis has its own characteristics, determined by the following species, which depend on the etiology of the disease:

  • traumatic;
  • Specific;
  • anaerobic;
  • plain.

Depending on the location of the fistula, abscesses and feces distinguish paraproctitis:

  • necrotic;
  • Pelviorectal;
  • Submucosal;
  • Retrectectal;
  • Ischiorectal;
  • subcutaneous.

The causes of paraproctitis

Among the factors that contribute to the development of paraproctitis, we can distinguish:

  • diabetes;
  • atherosclerosis;
  • A weakened immune system due to alcoholism, tonsillitis or flu, exhaustion;
  • hemorrhoids;
  • Cracks in the anus ;
  • Frequent constipation.

Symptoms of paraproctitis, acute

The acute form of paraproctitis can not be called ordinary suppuration, which is formed in pararectal tissue. It is not necessary to say that this is a banal suppuration similar to an abscess or a furuncle, which are often formed when an infection occurs in the outer perianal region. Symptoms of paraproctitis are often manifested by the formation of purulent fistula. For the acute form of the disease is characterized by an acute onset and severity of clinical manifestations, which are determined by the cessation of the inflammation focus, its size, the characteristics of the causative agent that provoked it. Pus formed in the circumscribed cyst, does not find an outlet, so the abscess spreads further and intensively. The specific symptoms of paraproctitis essentially depend on the location of the focus. The onset of the disease is characterized by the onset of headache, weakness, general malaise. The body temperature is -37.5 ° C and more. There is a chill, joints and muscles, lack of appetite. Disorder of stool and urination may occur, painful urge to defecate, painful urination. In addition, there is a possibility of the appearance of pains of varying intensity, which are concentrated in the lower abdomen, in the small pelvis and rectum.

All these symptoms of paraproctitis correspond to all forms of acute paraproctitis. But each type of disease has its own characteristic features.

Treatment

Only surgical treatment of acute paraproctitis. The operation consists in opening the focus of the infection and removing the available non-viable areas. If this form of the disease is accompanied by the formation of a fistulous course, the surgeon excludes it. At the end of the operation, drainage is established, due to which pus can freely flow out of the affected area.
