What is paraproctitis? Symptoms of the disease

Paraproctitis is a fairly common disease, manifested in the form of inflammatory processes of pararectal tissue next to the rectum. It usually occurs in adults.

Causes of the disease

There is paraproctitis in case of contact with the pararectal tissue of the causative agent - Escherichia coli, golden and white staphylococcus. A mixed microflora is also possible. Usually, the development of the disease is promoted by hemorrhoids, fissures and scratching of the skin around the anus, damage to the rectal mucosa, perineal hematomas.

There are cases when paraproctitis occurs as a complication of ulcerative colitis, as a consequence of rectal injuries or Crohn's disease.

Paraproctitis, symptoms

Possible acute form of the disease and chronic. In fact, this is one and the same disease, but in two stages of development. If the acute form of the disease does not receive proper treatment, it overflows into chronic paraproctitis. Infection in this case can be inactive for many years in places of old scars. As soon as a person's immunity weakens, the paraproctitis worsens, the symptoms of which flow into purulent infiltrates.

The disease is characterized by infiltration of diseased cellulose and a pronounced edema.

The disease begins sharply. Paraproctitis, the symptoms of which are expressed in the form of weakness, chills, headache and fever, is characterized by the appearance of painful sensations in the rectum.

Forms of the disease

Therefore, where there are abscesses, what they have forms, the paraproctitis is divided into:

- ischial-rectal;
- subcutaneous;
- pelvic-rectal;
Submucosal;
- behind the rectum.

Sidelitic-rectal paraproctitis, the symptoms of which may not disturb in the initial phase, is located in the area of sciatic-rectal cavities and extends to the pelvic cellulose.

Subcutaneous paraproctitis concentrates under the skin layer around the anus. The patient suffers pain, especially when defecating. The skin is inflamed, there is swelling in the lesion.

Tazovo-rectum paraproctitis is considered the most severe form, but also the rarest. Inflammation is located above the pelvic floor, which does not allow it to be detected with a finger examination at the initial stage.

Submucosal paraproctitis is located in the submucosa layer of the cellulose. Finger examination of the rectum reveals this disease. Such paraproctitis symptoms are in the form of pain in the rectum area, but not as intense as the subcutaneous form.

The post-rectum form of the disease has only one distinctive feature. Initially, the abscess is located in the cellulose behind the rectum, but the pus can get into the sciatic and rectal area.

Treatment

The initial stage of the disease is well eliminated by conservative treatment. This: a comprehensive treatment with antibiotics, sedentary warm baths with the addition of potassium permanganate, UHF-therapy. But most cases of paraproctitis require surgical intervention. At the operation, the abscess is opened, the dead tissues are removed, an outflow of pus is ensured. Postoperative treatment consists in observation of the doctor and strict bed rest.
