Crohn's disease: symptoms and diagnosis

To chronic inflammatory diseases of the intestine can be attributed a disease of the crown. Until now, it is impossible to establish with exact certainty the cause of its occurrence in a particular patient. It is believed that the main causes that contribute to inflammation of all layers of the intestinal mucosa are:

  • The presence of an allergy or the occurrence of an allergic reaction to a product;
  • Penetration of bacteria or infection affecting this organ;
  • The strongest stress, the consequences of which are thus reflected in health;
  • Heredity, that is, the predisposition of the genotype;
  • Disturbances in the work of the immune system;

The above reasons are the most common, but not the only ones. In practice, there are a number of problems that cause Crohn's disease, for example, the strongest exposure to radiation or ischemic disease.

Modern medicine has made significant progress in the treatment of inflammatory processes. About 100 years, scientists have actively studied ulcerative colitis and have achieved considerable success.

Allocate the main symptoms of this disease. Crohn's disease is manifested in the same way as many other diseases, but differs in the location of inflammation. To such similar symptomatic manifestations include a chronic form of existence and painful sensations in the abdomen. In this case, nonspecific colitis or, as it is commonly called, Crohn's disease is characterized by a severe attack of pain in the right lower abdomen. In very rare cases, such sensations are absent, and the patient experiences a constant severity. Always the disease is accompanied by severe diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration. Due to disruption of the gastrointestinal tract, a sharp loss in weight is observed, and as a result of the inflammatory process, a high fever rises.

Crohn's disease: diagnosis.

In most cases, it is very difficult to quickly recognize the presence of a given disease in a patient, since the symptoms of manifestation cover a wide range of infectious diseases. The main problems of diagnosis and treatment in medical practice include the lack of the necessary equipment corresponding to the achievements of modern science. Sometimes, in order to pinpoint a specific disease, years of regular observation take years.

Most experts perform an X-ray examination, which is able to quickly show the available areas of intestinal lesions . Of course, you can not do without external examination, analysis of feces and analysis of the mucous membrane, because with Crohn's disease all layers of the mucosa are damaged. In order to accurately determine the lesion, the specialist can use and ultrasound, and endoscopy, and video capsular endoscopy. Everything depends on the degree of development of the clinic and the availability of necessary equipment. Very often doctors are faced with a lack of information and the possibility of receiving it, so they can not provide highly qualified assistance.

You should be aware that in the presence of a chronic form of inflammation or Crohn's disease, which is supposedly lasting about 10 years, you should protect yourself and do an analysis for the presence of cancer cells.

Crohn's disease: treatment.

If you notice a manifestation of the above symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor to prevent possible complications. There were cases of death of the patient while ignoring the disease. As a rule, the treatment is medicated, that is, medications are prescribed that can cope with the inflammatory process. Depending on the scale and severity of the detected disease, either standard drugs or potent drugs are prescribed.
