When will the toxicosis begin? The main causes of morning sickness

This is a very common problem that many future mothers face. That's why pregnant women are interested in questions about when the toxicosis will begin and how long it lasts.

Why does toxicosis occur?

Nausea in the morning, dizziness and weakness are just the first signs of pregnancy. But before you learn about when the toxicosis begins, you should find out the main reasons for its occurrence.

In fact, modern doctors and researchers do not have a single theory about the occurrence of "morning sickness". The causes of toxicosis may be different.

  • In most cases, doctors explain such problems with hormonal failures. After all, the implantation of the fetus and its growth inside the uterus are accompanied by changes in the work of the endocrine system. At this time, secreted hormones provide normal growth of the uterus and placenta, preparation of the breast for lactation, and stop the development of eggs. Unfortunately, the body needs time to adjust to similar changes in hormone levels.
  • On the other hand, some experts explain the toxicosis of the presence in the mother's blood of the products of the fetus, which are perceived by the immune system as foreign bodies. As a result, weakness, nausea, dizziness and other symptoms of intoxication develop.
  • In turn, psychologists say that the state of the woman's psyche is of great importance. For example, as a result of some studies, it was determined that women who were not ready for pregnancy are more prone to symptoms of toxicosis.

It is also believed that the risk group includes future parturient women with weakened immune system, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

When will the toxicosis begin?

In fact, there is no specific date here, since every woman's morning sickness has its own peculiarities. And to the question of which week the toxicosis begins, every future mother gives her own answer. In some women, nausea appears from the first week. At the same time, other, more successful representatives of the fair sex, do not even know what constitutes a similar state.

Toxicosis begins in the week of the fifth or sixth, although again it is worth repeating that these terms are individual. Fortunately, the mother's body adapts to the changes by the end of the first trimester (12th week).

Symptoms and treatment of early toxicosis in pregnant women

Do not wait for the moment when toxemia begins, but prepare for the appearance of unpleasant symptoms in advance. Signs known to everyone - it's weakness, nausea and vomiting, decreased appetite, sometimes dizziness. And although this condition is called morning sickness, discomfort can haunt a woman at any time of the day, including the night.

The presence of toxicosis should be told obstetrician-gynecologist, leading your pregnancy. In most cases, no specific treatment is required, especially since many drugs can harm the developing child's body. But if the nausea is very severe, and the vomiting occurs more than 10-15 times a day, then the speech is likely to be about a severe form of toxicosis, which in the absence of treatment can lead to the termination of pregnancy. In such cases, the hospitalization of a woman and her treatment under hospital conditions are shown.
