Demodex - symptoms of the disease caused by this mite

Demodekozom can get sick at almost any age. The so-called conditionally pathogenic demodex mite (the treatment of diseases caused by it often lasts for years) affects the sebaceous glands and hair follicles. He can live on the skin for many years and did not manifest himself at all (more than 90 percent of people are found in the study).

The impetus to the development of demodicosis is often the weakening of immunity due to infectious diseases or stress. It is also known that the clinical manifestations of the skin disease caused by the demodex mite (its symptoms are well known) are more often observed in persons with endocrine pathologies, metabolic disorders and chronic gastrointestinal diseases. In addition, there are cases when demodicosis developed after using cosmetics with hormonal supplements. All these factors create favorable conditions for increasing the number of parasites and, as a consequence, the occurrence of itching and rashes. The corresponding diagnosis is made on the basis of microscopic examination of skin scraping: with such an increase, the mites are clearly visible.

A strong itch of the eyelids, more pronounced in the evening hours, and a feeling of heaviness in them, reddening and prolonged inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis), as well as the appearance of plaque and the presence of mucous discharge from the eyes also give reason to suspect the disease caused by the demodex mite. Symptoms of demodicosis on the eyelids are usually noticeable already during the initial examination. In this case, for the final diagnosis take a few eyelashes, which are examined under a microscope. For the skin form of demodicosis is characterized by a specific location of the rashes. Usually this is the so-called "demodex triangle", limited by nasolabial folds and chin. When the form of the disease is started, the rash spreads to the chest, and sometimes - to the back.

The appearance of the rashes may be somewhat different. So, with the pustular form of demodicosis on the skin there are pustules, with papular - bright red pimples, and for the erythematous form is characterized by reddening of the skin. Often there is also a combined form - with it there are several types of rashes, characteristic for the skin of the mite demodex. Symptoms of the disease in this case are particularly severe. Significantly complicate the course of the disease can attempt to squeeze out abscesses or acne. Doing this in no case it is impossible, since demodex thus only carries further on the skin.

With prolonged course of the disease, the skin becomes covered with tubers and acquires a reddish hue. Differential diagnosis of demodicosis is primarily carried out with acne (acne), as well as with rosacea - a chronic disease, which is based, as expected, on the sensitivity of small vessels of the facial skin to external influences. The difficulty lies in the fact that all these diseases often occur simultaneously. Indirectly confirm the presence of the tick demodex symptoms, specific for demodicosis: itching of the auricles, a sensation of tickling on the skin. With a long, long-term course of the disease, the shape of the nose can also be deformed - this complication is called rhinophyma.

It should be understood that demodicosis, the symptoms of which are usually pronounced, necessarily requires appropriate treatment. It should be comprehensive, because the disease most often develops in persons with weakened immunity - therefore, without its strengthening, achieving a stable remission will be problematic. It is also necessary to treat existing chronic gastrointestinal diseases. Cases of spontaneous recovery from this disease, unfortunately, are unknown. However, in the exact fulfillment of all medical recommendations, it is quite possible to achieve lasting improvement.
