What is the method of expert evaluation

The method of expert assessments is periodically applied in conducting research in various fields of science and technology. To do this, a variety of forms of expert information are used. With the help of these methods:

· Identification of the main objectives of future research;

· Determining the relevance of ongoing work in this time period;

· Definition of complexity of the chosen subjects;

· Selection of criteria for scientific research;

· Identification of the most important factors and their interrelationships;

· Choosing an alternative solution.

The method of expert assessments allows to take into account not only the opinion of one particular specialist, but also of a whole group of employees. In the first case, the assessment of the problem is given by each expert separately, after which individual opinions are combined by applying a special technique or method into one general opinion. In the second case, several specialists search for solutions together, analyzing and processing the available information.

The most common collective method of peer review is the method of brainstorming or attacking. During the search for a solution, researchers are divided into two groups. The first group includes those who will look for possible solutions to this problem. The second group includes those who criticize them, supplement them and choose the most optimal way out of the current situation.

Summarize the opinions of individual experts will help the method of Delphi. For this, all experts are introduced to a set of tasks that need to be solved, that is, a tree of goals is being formed. Then, each participant, based on his experience and knowledge, assesses in points each factor, depending on the degree of its impact on the achievement of the set goals. After that, the individual opinions of the participants are summarized in a single by means of a special formula, which includes estimates of relative importance, expressed in points that the expert has exposed to factors, as well as coefficients that take into account the expert's competence. The competence of this or that participant of the research is influenced by the reasoned response and the degree of familiarity with the subject matter of the problem. If such an expert evaluation method is used, then it is worthwhile to ensure that experts are not aware of other participants, and also to exclude experts from getting answers to each other in order to obtain reliable data. If the opinions of the participants are too diverse, it will be possible to familiarize them with the opinions of the opposing party and the validity of the arguments given so that experts can clarify their assessment. These actions will be performed until the estimates are comparable, and their average will reach the required level of reliability.

The method of expert assessments can be applied not only during scientific research, but also in the process of solving various everyday problems associated with the complexity of choice. The role of specialists in this case will be performed by your relatives or friends. You do not know which doors are better to put, what furniture to buy, what profession is better to go to school for? Address to your relatives, listen to their opinion and find the best way out of the situation.

This method can also be used by students when writing term papers or diploma projects, when it is necessary to choose the most appropriate method for solving the problem. The role of experts in this case will be given to university teachers who are the most competent in this field.

Thus, we can say that the method of expert assessments is a method that helps to find a solution to absolutely any problem, based on the experience and knowledge of people most competent in this field.
