This term originated from the Latin word flora, which in botany refers to the plant world. This term is also called "floral design" (it comes from the English words floral design). Below we will define what is floristry.

Floristics is a kind of decorative and applied art, consisting in creating floral creative works from various natural materials. They can be live, dry or canned.

In botany, the term means somewhat different, but is also associated with plants. Floristics - this is one of the sections of botany, which deals with the study of a set of plants in a certain territory.

We looked at what floristry is. For beginners, this is usually the creation of simple compositions and bouquets, The main rule that should be remembered for beginners is that it does not mean better at all.

Directions

Floristic directions were constantly changing: the old ones were replaced by new ones, and then again returned to the old ones. Currently, these directions are mixed, the boundaries between them disappear. But even combining several styles in work, it is important to know the main ones for the correct combination of elements. This topic is controversial in floristry. There are three main directions:

• Form-linear;
• Decorative;
• Vegetative.

The latter two were singled out by Gregor Lersh, and Daniel Ost supplemented him. Peter Asmann, in addition to the above styles, singled out one more - parallel. Later it was moved to the category of plant lines. The Latvian floristic school named six directions: along with decorative and vegetative styles, there are also decorative forms, linear, formal, style and transparent style.

A special direction of this art is creative floristry. What is creative floristics? It is characterized by the originality of the form, as well as the refinement, the uniqueness of the authors.

Types of jobs

Various works can be performed from plants, the main ones are listed below:

1. Primary and secondary techniques (basic): arrangement, landing, sticking, working with wire, fastening, working with glue, binding, suspending and others.
2. Decorative: layering, stringing, twisting, wrapping, twisting, splitting, weaving, weaving and others.
3. Protective (preserving): insulating, taping (allows to prolong the life of a cut plant), waxing, evaporation protection, protection against moisture and others.

Floristics and flower design

In simple terms, what is floristry, it should be said that this is an art form where the artist uses leaves, herbs, petals instead of paints. It also expresses a person's feelings, his creative impulse and imagination.

Floristic work can be a worthy decoration of any interior. Most often these are flower bouquets. Flowers have long been used to decorate homes. Thus, floristics, using the properties of plants, also exist for many centuries. Therefore, the concepts of floristry and flower design are partially interrelated, but there are differences. Flower design involves creating compositions of flowers in a vase, basket. This is done for the purpose of selling. Floristry is a more general concept, works in this art form are performed not only from flowers.

But if you still decided to perform a flower arrangement, then you should pay attention to the combination of these plants by color and size.

There are four ways of combining plant colors: a combination of similar colors, contrasting colors, from different color circles, a combination of shades of the same color. When composing a bouquet it is important to pay attention to the size and shape of plants and to properly arrange them.

Composition is made from high plants and gradually adding lower ones. To complement the bouquet should be evenly, so that it looked beautiful. And, of course, it is important to "include" the imagination and create unique floral compositions.
