For literary work critical and objective evaluation is very important, especially for novelties, which are not yet known to the average reader. It is the reviews that allow you to evaluate the book before buying. They can be in-house (written for the editor) or external (appeared after the publication). Do not confuse these works with reviews, where there is only a personal attitude to the work.

There are several typical mistakes in writing a book review:

  1. Substitution analysis of the story of his brief retelling.
  2. Absence of arguments and citations in the evaluation of work.
  3. Overloading with minor details to the detriment of the main content.
  4. Emphasis on the ideological features, not the aesthetics of the text.

What is a review of the film?

To write a review of the cinematographic work, it is reviewed at least twice. After the first viewing on paper, impressions from the script, the acting and special effects are recorded. It is better to start working right away, with fresh sensations. Then you need to look for information about the director, the performers of the main roles, their main achievements and awards.

If it's not a question of the premiere, you can refer to other reviews, compare them among themselves. This will allow you to write an interesting and original text without repeating what has already been said. The second viewing is needed to order your sensations and give an objective assessment to the cinematographic work. Separately it is worth mentioning the musical accompaniment of the film and sharing information about the authors of the soundtrack.

In order to understand what the reviews of cinematographic works are and how best to write them, you need to prepare a plan in advance with the following points:

  1. A summary of the film.
  2. Impressions of the reviewer from viewing.
  3. Evaluation of acting skills, character development, director's and camera work.
  4. Recommendations that allow readers to understand whether to watch this film.

A few more explanations, what are reviews and what tasks they should perform: the author should describe the pros and cons of the picture, point out the symbolism of those or other episodes that the ordinary viewer is difficult to understand independently. Separately, you can write about landscapes and interiors, against which events occur, about the work of the costumer and accuracy in the transfer of details, especially if the cinema is historical.

Before you publish your work, it is desirable to read it 1-2 times out loud, with interruptions of 20-30 minutes, which will make it possible to avoid many mistakes and correct the text style. These small recommendations will help future authors in understanding what reviews are and will make a memorable and useful analysis of a literary or cinematic work.
