The Shosha River in the Tver Region: description, photo, ideas for recreation

The Tver region is considered the north-western end of the CFD and is the "gateway" to Scandinavia and the Baltic region for residents of the Russian capital. It included 35 districts and 8 districts, each of which is beautiful in its own way. There are a lot of attractions, beautiful nature, many water bodies (more than a hundred) rich in fish (the river Shosh, Volga, Ivankovskoe reservoir). There is where to take a walk and what to see.

Rest in the Tver region

Every year many people come to Tver in order to rest. They go on fascinating excursions through the ancient cities of the region, visit galleries and monuments, rest on the banks of the Ivankovsky reservoir (popularly called the Moscow Sea), raft, fish, hunt, stop with tents.

The most interesting holiday in the area is rest on the nature. First of all, speaking about recreational tourism, it is necessary to note Lake Seliger with its countless estuaries. The biosphere reserves, the pine forest near the town of Konakovo, the southern taiga relic spruce forests are also known to tourists. In addition, the area contained several marshes with a rare fauna, more than seventy small rivers with magnificent landscapes.

In this article, it will be about the river resort, or rather about what the Shosh River (Tver region) is like, how to get to it, what to do, what to see.

Description of the river

Shosh - a typical shallow rivulet in the middle of Russia. It flows in the Tver region, and also partially touches the region of the capital of our homeland. Its origin takes on the Moscow Upland. In the past, the river was considered the right tributary of the river. The Volga, in the present, flows into the Ivankovo Reservoir. The area of its basin is more than three thousand kilometers, and its length is 163 kilometers.

The river Shosha is rather meandering, the banks are steep, but not high, covered with aspen, willow and alder, on the border of the Moscow and Tver regions the banks are covered with pine forest. The river is clean and transparent, flows through picturesque places and carries water through the chic floodplain valleys and forests.

The food of the river is snow. It starts to freeze in early December, is opened in April. Shosh has several dams, and in addition to different types of fish (bream, chub, roach, gudgeon, ide) in its waters live beavers, crayfish.

Light water becomes from the beginning of May (visibility up to two meters), and in the first months of autumn the transparency reaches three to four meters.

How to get there

In order to reach Shoshi, you need to follow the route Moscow-Riga for about a hundred kilometers. At the police station in Volokolamsk you need to turn to the city of Lotoshino (the most environmentally friendly region of the region). Here at the second traffic light, go to the right and keep the path to the village called Mikulino (about 25 km).

Throughout the journey you will have a great road, but you should not overclock it, as there is a chance to get employees of the "striped wand" into the disguised trap.

Shosh - a favorite place for fishermen

The river Shosha (Tver region) offers a comfortable option for men - fishing. It is popular not only among local fishermen, but also in fans of sitting with a fishing rod from Moscow (from the capital to the river a stone's throw). Here, carp, pike, bream and other species of fish are abundant. According to local fishermen, if lucky enough, you can meet zander, yazya and even sterlet. However, it is important to remember that sterlet is a fish listed in the Red Book and it should not be mined.

Often on this fishing river whole fishing camps are built, and sometimes there are real sports tournaments for catching.

It is only necessary to bear in mind that the lower reaches of the river are located on the territory of the Zavidovsky reserve, and fishing is possible here with the permission given by the directorate of the reserve.

Tourism in the Shosh River

River alloys - this is what is known for extreme tourism in the territory of Tver. Here, to the services of rafters and kayak lovers, the upper reaches of the Volga and Msty rivers, the Mologa and Mezhy river channels, the Western Desna shipping area are offered. Small boats can walk on local reservoirs and lakes.

Among the kayakers are very popular rivers Tvertsa, Volga, Medveditsa. Alloys on them are very interesting and fascinating. The routes open insanely beautiful views, magnificent landscapes, make people rejoice and love nature.

The Shosh River allows to float only on small vessels. On it tourists can walk on boats and fishing boats, make their way through the lost world, where the river will appear before their eyes in all its glory: wild, untouched nature, forests, clean air.

The Shosha River for fans of hunting

The entire Tver region is an area of coniferous and mixed forests, and Shosha's shore is no exception. The common commercial fauna here is ungulates:

  • boar;
  • Elk;
  • Deer.

You can meet rabbits and wolves. The river itself is rich in waterfowl, there are beavers.

However, it should not be forgotten that in certain months hunting is restricted here by prohibitions. Shooting animals from the Red Book (vole underground, black-throated diver, stork, gray goose, swan-sweeper) is always banned.

Underwater hunting and fishing

Since recent times, for many representatives of the stronger sex, underwater hunting has become an integral part of life, and many amateur fishermen come to the Shosh River to hunt here in a diving suit with an underwater gun in their hands. Transparency of water in the upper reaches of the river near the villages of Peni, Konoplevo, Tatarki, even on rainy days, does not exceed less than 1.5 meters and is perfectly suitable for fishing under water.

Old residents of these places often tell different stories about the huge fish that they had to meet. According to them, such individuals go to Shoshu from the reservoir and the Volga.

The method of hunting in these places is to search for fish along the coast. The main prey is the chub, the most common fish in Shosh after perch and roach. It can be seen literally under each bush. Fish with hawkish coloration, ungainly, allows you to come close to yourself.

If you move the river and drive towards Nesterovo, then you find yourself in a favorite place for vacationers and fishermen. Previously, there was a dam, and after its drain a hole with a sandy beach and a bottom fifty meters in width was formed. Here you can catch bream, pike perch, pike. It is better to hunt in late autumn or early spring, at other times in these places too crowded. Here Shosha is fascinatingly beautiful, especially in summer, when there are a lot of water lilies in the water. Standing on a steep bank, overgrown with age-old pine trees, you can admire the gazing scenery before dizziness.

Forest Tracking

The Shosha River and Shoshinsky Forest, located on its shore, attract berry and mushroom pickers. Here you can pick strawberries, blueberries, in some places, if you try hard, you can find cranberries and even cranberries. Also people come here to stock up for the winter with a dog rose. All these berries are not just tasty, but also very useful. Thanks to them, you can well strengthen your immunity and for the whole period of colds forget about colds.

In the autumn in the places where Shosha flows, it is very pleasant to walk with a basket, since it will never remain empty. Basically mushroom pickers gather here boletus, chanterelles, ceps, sandpipers, butter.

Shosha River: recreation with tents

Among the tents, rest on Shoshi's shore is also in demand. They practice their own tourism here. Behind a village called Pominovo, the banks of the river have many shallows and sandy beaches. It is in these places that you can often find tent camps. People come here for a few days and live in a friendly tandem with nature.

Despite rafting, the river Shosha (photo of which can be seen in this article) is very clean and warm. Therefore, in the summer months it can comfortably swim, dive with a mask.

The only nuance - the entrance to the river is difficult. And before you go to rest here, it is better to prepare a route in advance and study the ways of approaching Shoshe.

Basically, people who prefer not to throw their cars, drive up to the river from the village of Turginovo, there is a good exit to the shore and a place where you can throw a tent.

What else to do while you rest on Shoshe

The Shosha River is a recreation not only for hunters and fishermen. If you have to visit the places where it flows, then you can try yourself in the role of climber and practice skills at the heights of the Firovsky district, the speleologists will be interested to visit the Staritsky catacombs. Here there are caves with complex shapes, in the cavities there are unique edgy formations.

A few dozen kilometers from the river is the Tver aeroclub, which gladly meets the fans of the flight. The organization associates itself with aerial extreme tourism and organizes excursions on airplanes, paragliding and parachute jumping.
