Victor Ageyev: biography of the athlete

During the Soviet era, physical culture and sports were paid close attention. It's no secret that at that time in the Union there simply was not such a thing as a professional sportsman. Nevertheless, for all the years of the existence of the communist system, the world has recognized many boxers who, with their achievements, have proved that not a name paints a person, but his diligence, diligence and to some extent a talent. We will talk about one of these "diamonds" in this article. The name of this person is Victor Ageyev.

Birth and childhood of the athlete

The future champion was born on July 7, 1941 in Moscow. It is worth noting that in his youth Victor Ageyev was a pretty hooligan boy and was considered a thunderstorm of many of the city's courtyards. However, at the age of 13, life brought him with a remarkable man - Vadim Frolovich Konkov, who was able to carry the guy into boxing and took him under his coaching care.

Training and speaking

Skating was an outstanding mentor. It was largely thanks to him that Victor Ageyev was able to become the champion of the capital, and a little later - of the whole Union (and fourfold). In 1960, the boxer launched his victorious series, consisting of 34 international matches. In 1965 and 1967 he was able to become the champion of Europe.

Prison term

In 1968, the sports star Ageev died out. This is due to the fact that he was expelled from the team and deprived of the title of master of sports. All the blame - a drunken brawl, which occurred near the restaurant "Metropol".

But even this situation has not changed the attitude to the life of the talented boxer. Three years later, Ageyev again finds himself involved in a criminal situation, which did not allow him eventually to get to the Olympic Games in Mexico City. This time the athlete beat a police officer, for which he made a previous conviction, which, incidentally, is not surprising, since the victim had the title of captain. At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs officer suffered serious injuries: a concussion and a fractured nose.

In prison, the former European boxing champion was also not an exemplary prisoner. He managed to earn another term. And it happened as follows. While serving his sentence, Ageyev received a message that his father had died. Victor appealed to the leadership of the colony with a request to let him go to the funeral, but as a result received a negative answer, and left the colony on his own. In order to somehow minimize the punishment for this misdemeanor, Viktor Petrovich Ageev tried to feign trauma to the head in order to go to the hospital, and not be back on the bunk. But the destiny of the villain here also threw him a step: the investigator, who was leading his case, was in the past a fighter who could not reach any significant heights in the sport. It was he who unrolled the case in such a way that Ageyev again received a term.

In addition, during his stay in prison Victor Ageyev repeatedly found himself on the verge of life and death: he was beaten with montage, tried to crush to death in a "funnel" filled with people, and one day he almost died of hypothermia.

The long-awaited release to freedom

In the spring of 1975, Viktor Petrovich Ageev became free on legal grounds. Unfortunately, the conviction closed the former athlete's way to Moscow - his residence permit in the capital was revoked. But, using his connections, he still managed to get the coveted stamp in the passport, which confirmed the right of his residence in the White-stone.

Career mentor athletes

Ageyev as a boxing coach became no less famous than when he was an active fighter. It traced a philosophical mindset and a similar approach to business. Thanks to his experience and knowledge, Viktor Petrovich was able to prepare a whole pleiad of outstanding boxers. His track record caused envy among many of his colleagues in the shop.

Immediately we note that Viktor Ageyev did not work with every fighter. According to contemporaries, there was such a feeling that he selected people not by physical data, but by moral-volitional quality.

Pupils of the hero of the article recall that Viktor Petrovich Ageyev is a boxing coach who regularly checked the wards for fortress and fortitude. So, one day he personally poured champagne to his athletes and allowed to drink. And when the guys took the contents of the glasses inside, the mentor began to beat them mercilessly. In his opinion, such a check should convince them that one should not step aside from his path, and to engage in boxing means completely giving up alcohol and tobacco products.

Today's Day

In the past Victor Ageyev is a boxer of unbending will and colossal physical strength. Today, this man is the president of the Federation of Professional Boxing of Russia. He is also one of the leaders of the World Boxing Association, has an impact on the development of the Pan Asian boxing association.

But Viktor Petrovich did not stop there. Under his direct influence in the city of Balashikha (Moscow region) was established a sports club in his name, in which more than a hundred young athletes train free of charge. The boxing hall is equipped with the latest technology and has the most up-to-date inventory. There is also a gym and a rehabilitation and rehabilitation center. Each year in this town, they must conduct an international championship for the prize of Ageyev.

In autumn 2002, the coach was awarded the Order of Honor on the basis of the decree of the President of the country. Such a reward was awarded to Ageyev for his services in the constant development of physical culture and sports, as well as diligent long-term work.
