Uniderm: instructions for use. Uniderm for children: reviews

The drug "Uniderm" instructions for use refers to the group of glucocorticosteroids for topical use. The active component of the drug is mometasone, it produces antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative effects.

Pharmacological properties

Synthetic glucocorticosteroid induces the release of phospholipase-inhibiting A2 proteins, known as lipocortins. By stopping the release of arachidonic acid, they control the synthesis of leukotrienes and prostaglandins.

Specialists testify to the insignificant absorption of the drug "Uniderm". The instruction indicates that only eight hours after application of the cream to the skin (without the use of an occlusive dressing), only 0.4 percent of the drug is found in the systemic circulation.

Indications for use

The drug is used in case of inflammatory manifestations and itching in dermatoses that can be treated with glucocorticosteroids, including atopic dermatitis, psoriasis.

Dosage form and composition

Medication "Uniderm" is available in the form of a cream of almost white or completely white color, intended for outdoor use. The medicine is packaged in aluminum tubes of 15 or 30 grams, and they, in turn, are placed in cardboard packs. In one gram of cream, the active ingredient - mometasone furoate - is contained in a mass of 1 milligram. Secondary components are cetostearyl alcohol, titanium dioxide, white wax, dilute phosphoric acid, hexylene glycol, white petrolatum, glyceryl monostearate, propylene glycol, macrogol 20 cetyl stearate, purified water, starch octenyl succinate aluminum.

Uniderm Cream. Analogues

Generics of the drug are preparations "Nazonex", "Momat", "Asmaneks", "Elokom". All of them have a similar spectrum of activity and are used in the treatment of dermatoses. For this purpose, prednisolone ointment can also be used.

"Uniderm": use of medicament, dosage

As already noted, the cream is for local use. It should be applied to the affected skin once a day. The duration of therapy should be determined by the doctor, based on the characteristics of the patient (tolerability, severity of side effects).

Use of the medicine "Uniderm" for children

The responses of many parents who used this medication in the treatment of children report good tolerance and effectiveness. However, it should be noted that the safety of the cream when used in children for more than six weeks has not been studied. Since the ratio of weight and surface area of the body is greater in children than in adults, the risk of suppressing the normal functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the occurrence of Cushing's syndrome in the case of any local glucocorticosteroids are more likely to be affected. Proceeding from this, one can not deny the possibility of developmental and growth disruptions in long-term treatment with Uniderm cream. The instruction draws the parents' attention to the fact that the dose of the medication received by the children should be minimal, but at the same time sufficient to achieve a therapeutic effect. The duration of the therapeutic course for babies from six months to two years should not be more than five days.

Adverse events

In most cases, the drug does not cause adverse effects. Patients positively assess the tolerability of the drug "Uniderm". Individuals' reviews nevertheless contain information about negative manifestations. So, it is reported on the occurrence of burning, itching, dry skin, the appearance of a rash. The instruction, among possible side effects, also notes hypertrichosis, allergic contact and perioral dermatitis, folliculitis, hypopigmentation, maceration, signs of skin atrophy, puffiness, attachment of a secondary infection. In very rare cases, pustules and papules can form.

If a cream is used to treat large areas of the skin or under an occlusive dressing, the negative effects characteristic of all glucocorticosteroids of systemic activity, such as adrenal insufficiency, hypercorticoid syndrome , may develop.

Contraindications

In the case of personal hypersensitivity to any of the components present in the composition or, in general, to glucocorticosteroid drugs, it is necessary to abandon the use of the drug "Uniderm". The instruction also prohibits the use of the cream for perioral dermatitis, rosacea, skin infections, syphilis, tuberculosis. Contraindicated in children up to six months of age. With extreme caution, the drug should be applied to occlusal dressings, to the area of wrinkles and to the skin of the face, as well as to extensive body surfaces. Avoid contact with eyes.

Application during pregnancy and during lactation

The safety of the use of the cream in these periods has not been studied. However, it is known that glucocorticosteroids are able to penetrate the placental barrier. In order to avoid a negative effect on the development of the fetus, during pregnancy use the "Uniderm" medication the instruction recommends in small doses and for a short time. Among other things, glucocorticosteroids are excreted together with breast milk. Therefore, you should stop breastfeeding if you need to use the cream in significant amounts or for an extended period.

Overdose

With excessive and frequent application of the drug to the skin surface, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system may become oppressed, including the development of secondary adrenal insufficiency. In such a case, symptomatic treatment is required, if necessary, correction of electrolyte imbalance should be made or medication should be canceled (with long-term therapy, cancellation should be gradual).

special instructions

Propylene glycol, which is present in the Uniderm cream, can cause irritation at the site of application. In such a situation, you need to stop using the drug and contact your doctor for the appropriate treatment. It should be borne in mind that glucocorticosteroids can change the manifestations of certain skin diseases, and this can lead to difficulties in setting the right diagnosis. The use of glucocorticosteroids can also cause a slower healing of wounds.

If therapy with Uniderm is carried out for a long time, and then abruptly discontinued treatment, ricochet syndrome may develop, which is found in the form of dermatitis, accompanied by a burning sensation and a strong reddening of the skin. Therefore, the abolition of the medication in this case should be done gradually, for example, first go to an intermittent therapy regimen, and then completely stop using the cream.

Vacation from pharmacies. Price

To buy a medicine "Uniderm" in the pharmacy will need to provide a prescription from a doctor. The cost of a tube of cream weighing 15 grams averages 140-150 rubles. Acquisition of a 30-gram tube will cost about 260 rubles.

Shelf life. Storage conditions

The drug is suitable for use for two years. Store it in a place protected from sunlight at a temperature of 15-25 degrees Celsius.
