Pharmaceutical preparation "Pentaxim". Reviews, indications, contraindications

Pharmaceutical "Pentaxim" (reviews about which you can find different) is used to prevent the occurrence of diseases such as tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, poliomyelitis and hemophilia.

The preparation is a lyophilizate from which a suspension administered intramuscularly is prepared. In its composition - an adsorbed vaccine for the prevention of tetanus and diphtheria, acellular pertussis and inactivated poliomyelitis.

The vaccine "Pentaxim", which is controversial, contains the following active substances: filamentous hemagglutinin, pertussis, tetanus and diphtheria toxoid, the first, second and third type poliomyelitis virus is inactivated. The auxiliary components are aluminum hydroxide, Hanks medium, formaldehyde, phenoxyethanol, water for injection, acetic acid (or sodium hydroxide).

The vaccine "Pentaxim" (reviews about it are numerous), used for the prevention of hemophilia, has a slightly different composition. Thus, the active substance in it is the polysaccharide Haemophilus influenzae type b, which is conjugated to tetanus toxoid. Additional substances - trometamol and sucrose.

The agent "Pentaxim" (reviews about it diametrically opposite), whose action is aimed at the prevention of diphtheria, poliomyelitis, whooping cough and tetanus, is a whitish turbid suspension. The vaccine against hemophilia has the form of a white homogeneous lyophilizate.

The vaccine in question is applicable to children who have reached the age of three months. It is contraindicated for people with progressive encephalopathy (with or without seizures), and a similar disease that developed within seven days after vaccination with Bordetella pertussis antigens. In addition, the drug is not prescribed for administration to patients who, within two days after vaccination with this medication, body temperature increased to forty degrees Celsius, developed an unusual long crying syndrome or hypotonic hyporeactive, febrile convulsions or febrile convulsions were observed .

The agent "Pentaxim" (reviews the most diverse) should be administered at half a milliliter intramuscularly. It is introduced, as a rule, in the middle third of the anterolateral region of the thigh. The vaccine is not administered either intravenously or subcutaneously.

The course consists of three injections, produced at intervals of four to eight weeks (from the third month of life of the child). Revaccination is carried out at the age of eighteen months (one dose is administered).

When the vaccination schedule is shifted, all the following intervals between vaccinations do not change (including a break before the fourth dose, twelve months).

Vaccination "Pentaxim", parents' feedback confirm this, may cause local and general adverse reactions in the child. Among the first, pain in the area of administration, redness and condensation in the injection zone (usually less than five centimeters in diameter) is noted. These reactions can be observed for two days after vaccination.

Common negative manifestations are fever, crying, anorexia, vomiting, loose stools, drowsiness, irritability, insomnia.

In very rare cases, there may be rashes, hives, swelling of the face, shock.

It is noted that the agent under consideration does not ensure the formation of immunity against infections caused by other serotypes of Haemophilus influenzae, as well as against meningitis of other origin.

It is very important to inform the district pediatrician about all the manifestations of undesirable effects. Based on these data , the child's vaccination schedule will be adjusted , which will minimize the risk of further complications.

Health to you and your children!
