History

"Modern" - the theater, which appeared in Moscow in 1988. He won his fame in a very short time. Originally it was called "Theater-studio on Spartakovskaya". And a year after its creation has already toured the tour of Yugoslavia and the United States. Theater performances differ in their brightness and avant-garde. Many of them have repeatedly won prizes and winners of prestigious festivals and competitions. In the 90s Svetlana Vragova turned to a new style for our country of that time in culture - modernity. Then a new stage in the development of the theater began. He changed the name to what he wears now.

The repertoire of the theater "Modern" includes performances based on works by classics, plays by Soviet and modern playwrights. And also fairy tales for children. But its basis is composed of works of the Silver Age. Svetlana Vragova believes that modernism should rely on serious cultural traditions and search for new forms. • The second premiere of this season is the performance "Prison Premium Rate". The action takes place in the city of N. There are two realities. On the surface of the earth - poverty, war, depravity and corruption. Below - the complete opposite. There's no one to put in jail. But it is led by a dreamy romantic. He takes in prison all who want to, who want to rest and sit in silence. The mayor, having visited this institution and having seen the lucky guests, decided to create a business on this.

Artistic director

The theater was created by Svetlana Alexandrovna Vragova, People's Artist of Russia. Her first director's work was the play "Spring Turners" in the Youth Theater of the City of Kirov. Then Svetlana was still a student, but her work was already distinguished by a high level of professionalism and originality. After graduating from the institute, S. Vragova worked as a director at the Moscow Pushkin Drama Theater. The most famous of her productions of that period was The Fifth Ten. The next stage of the creative path was working as a director at the Moscow New Drama Theater. In 1981 Svetlana created the studio "On Spartakovskaya". In the troupe she accepted the graduates of the famous "Sliver". The first performance of the studio was the play "Dear Elena Sergeevna". The troupe drove this production on tour in the USA. In 1995, the studio was transformed into the Moscow Drama Theater "Modern". With the new status, the repertoire expanded. Performances of the theater show a special look at the world, a refined style and artistic novelty.
