DPS cable: description and purpose of the product

DPS cable of dielectric type is used for the organization of trunk systems in places to which high demands are placed on resistance to mechanical influences. Such products can be laid in cable ducts (blocks, pipes, in the presence of a high level of requirements for mechanical stability), trenches, in the ground 1-3 of the group with an automatic knife cable, in tunnels and trestles. This type of dielectric wire can not be used in soils subject to permafrost deformation. It is allowed to lay with the resistance of the optical wire to a tensile force of at least 20 kN. The DPS cable has an outer polyethylene sheath.

DPS cable construction

It has the following construction:

  1. The basis of such a wire is the power central element - a dielectric glass-fiber rod.
  2. Fiber-optic module, in which optical elements in the PBT shell are freely laid, filled with hydrophobic composition.
  3. Intermodular aggregate.
  4. Special fastening thread.
  5. Polymer material as an intermediate shell.
  6. Armor protection from galvanized steel wires.
  7. Special protective hose made of polymer materials.
  8. Copper insulated core, the cross section of which is 0.75 mm2.

In addition, a light version can be produced: such a DPS-cable does not have a power central element and contains only one optical module.

Features of ground cables

These products have found wide application not only in Europe, but also in Russia, thanks to special requirements for operation. For example, an optical DPS-type cable has a high value of the parameter of mechanical resistance, directed to rupture. Due to this property, these wires can be used in a variety of climatic zones. This is especially true for our vast country, in which sharp temperature changes are not uncommon, and strong winds, rains, snow, and icing. In general, most of Russia's regions are characterized by severe climatic conditions, this applies to both regions with a harsh climate, and vice versa, with too moderate. The DPS cable has successfully proved itself in the Far East and Siberia (in such cities as Irkutsk, Blagoveshchensk, Petropalovsk-Kamchatsky, Yakutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Magadan and Vladivostok). Dielectric cable for the creation of computer networks and communications - for use in such weather conditions - must have a particularly high quality and meet the necessary requirements for reliability and practicality in operation. Mechanical stability of DPS-type cables should also be high, which will help to avoid the failure of communication lines and increase the service life of the entire system.

Conclusion

The modern technologies and materials used in the construction of dielectric cables of this type are very expensive, all this affects the final price of such a product. However, it is incomparable with the costs and problems that have to be eliminated by network builders who incorrectly evaluated the correctness of the optic cable selection and bet on a different, cheaper type, instead of using the DPS cable.
