Anyone who is interested in progress in computer technology, certainly drew attention to the surprising persistence of the emergence of new computer components. The power of processors and video cards increases annually, and manufacturers introduce various technological solutions designed to speed up computing. For the user it is obvious that there is not much speed, but the pace of development is so fast that the purchased laptop does not have enough time to become obsolete when a new model is already on sale. Who is interested in new components? The answer is simple: fans of computer games. New games are becoming more realistic, requiring additional computing power.

Everyone knows that the performance depends on the processor, video card, RAM and some other components. To argue which processors are better for games is a thankless task. Every person has his own opinion, which he adheres to. So let's look at the basic parameters that help determine which processor to choose for the games.

Currently, the central processors (CPUs) are produced by two largest companies - AMD and Intel. Studying the price of computer firms, the buyer has to choose which processor is best for gaming. The products of both manufacturers are of high quality, allowing to fully reveal the potential of the computer.

If a few years ago the speed of the game depended to a great extent on the frequency of the processor, now it's not so simple. All new games are optimized for multi-core processors. Such a processor consists of several, but in a single package. For games, you should not buy a single-core model. There are varieties with two, three, four or more cores. Conditionally, we can assume that the more cores in the processor, the higher its efficiency. Advertising argues that the virtual multi-core (Hyper-threading, HT), implemented in some models from Intel, is almost inferior to full-fledged processor cores in competitor solutions (AMD). Indeed, the test results confirm this, but only when comparing new HT models of Intel with previous generations of AMD, so it's not a question of correctness. So, the first answer to the question "which processor is better for games" is multi-core.

One of the main characteristics of the CPU is the frequency of operation, measured in gigahertz (GHz). The higher this value, the faster the response. Important: comparing the frequency of work of AMD and Intel products can be with certain reservations. The fact is that each manufacturer uses its own internal optimization of electronic logic circuits, so 3 GHz Intel always differ in the total speed of 3 GHz AMD. Which processor is better? For games, the greatest frequency is important, but, as already indicated, among the products of any chosen manufacturer.

The lion's share of processor transistors is a cache memory. Thanks to it, the efficiency of the CPU has increased. Modern games work faster on devices with a large cache, and increasingly use Level 3 of this memory. It can be stated with all certainty that more and more applications will be more efficient to work with such processors. Typically, models with an additional L3 cache are faster than the classic two-tier system (L1 + L2).

And the most obvious solution is to purchase the top (the best, expensive) processor. Novelties include the work of previous generations and accelerating the work of innovation.

When choosing a processor, it should be remembered that the speed of execution of the game code often depends on software optimizations. That's why no one is surprised by the situation when a more powerful CPU of one manufacturer is inferior to a slow solution, but of another firm.
