Skidding tractor TT-4 is a Soviet caterpillar of the 4th class of traction. It is designed specifically for logging. Description

The tractor TT-4 was produced serially from 1969 to 2010 at the Altai Tractor Plant. The design is based on the TDT-75 model, which in the 70's was the most popular car of this class. To improve the performance of the device, the designers have installed on it new elements, the main one of which became a more powerful engine. The main feature of the frame construction of the tractor is the closed bottom. This makes it possible to protect the device from contact with the hillocks and snags, which are found everywhere in the forest. Another important difference of the machine is the placement of the power plant and the clutch in the cab. The engine is closed by a hood that has removable side parts.

Purpose

The TT-4 tractor and its modifications are used to move large and medium-sized forests to warehouses and intermediate storage sites, as well as to load material onto timber carriers and all kinds of platforms. In addition, various forestry vehicles can be attached to it as a trailer. The unpretentiousness and ability to perform its task in the most severe climatic conditions made the machine indispensable for the northern regions.

By the way, the tractor TT-4M-01 was produced without the working equipment and was a chassis on which it was possible to assemble different types of special equipment (boring crane, delimiting machines, mobile welding, forestry and other units). Strengths and weaknesses of the model

1. Thanks to the wide tracks, the machine can move without any problems either along flat forest paths, or over marshy and other problem areas.

3. The inherent drawback of all caterpillars is the low speed of movement. But it is compensated by low pressure on the ground.

Construction of the TT-4 tractor

• The motor . The skidder is equipped with a diesel, 6-cylinder, in-line four-stroke engine. It has liquid cooling and direct fuel injection. The starting motor is equipped with electric starters. In the cold season the heater works. The tractor is equipped with a dual system for cleaning air and a triple - for cleaning fuel.
• Transmission. Has a dry grip, the clutch of which is equipped with two disks. The clutch is operated by means of a pedal through the hydraulic booster. Four stages of manual transmission provide 8 forward and 4 rear speeds. The main gear has two bevel gears with spiral teeth.
• Rama . It is a welded type construction, consisting of spars, fastened with pipes. On the spars attached bumpers and wings. The frame also includes bottom flaps and angles. The sashes are under the engine and are attached by means of hinges.

• Brakes - tape, dry. The swivel mechanism is planetary. The parking brake is activated by the pedal, and the planetary brakes are actuated by the power-assisted levers.
• Running gear. The tractor is equipped with a balance-lever semi-rigid suspension. It consists of four carriages (two back and forth). On both sides installed 5 single-row rollers. Two on the front carriages, and three on the rear. Caterpillars have a crank-screw tension mechanism, which is equipped with a spring shock absorber.

Working Equipment

In the stern part of the frame on the side members a loading platform is installed. It works from a hydraulic drive. There is also a winch, which includes a reducer and a drum for winding the cable. The gearbox is equipped with a transfer case with two gears and a reverse gear. The movement of the winch drum is slowed down by a brake with a clutch of overtaking type.

The welded shield is made of two sheets of steel with a wooden layer between them. In the front there are rubber buffers. The guide mechanism operates on bearings. The shield is thrown off the frame, held in position, lowered and raised using a hydraulic drive.

Cabin

In the cockpit there are two seats, they are located to the left of the motor. The driver's seat can be adjusted by means of a hydraulic shock absorber. On the front wall of the cabin is the dashboard, and next to it is a device that opens the radiator flaps. On the rear wall there is a lever through which the winch is controlled.

The cabin is equipped with front window heating, janitors, a fan, a first aid kit, a sun visor and a water thermos. Glasses can rise and fall.

1. TT-4M. The TT-4 M tractor has a left-handed, single-seated trapezoidal cab. It is much more convenient to work here than in the base version. Another difference is the reduced pressure on the ground. In general, the model with the prefix "M" has such parameters:

The difference is only in the pressure on the ground (33 kPa); Weight (12.6 tons); Lifting capacity (113.5 kN) and length (5.927 m).

3. TT-4M-04. This version of the tractor is characterized by the presence of a hydraulic pusher. It facilitates the procedures of humming the finished packs, leveling the lumps, and preparing the pads for loading. The version is characterized by such technical characteristics:

This gives the unit the opportunity not only to transport trees, but also to clear the sites, roads and access roads, equip parking places. The machine exerts pressure on the soil equal to 42 kPa. 6. TT-4M-15/16/17 . Three models of the same series, each of which has its own characteristics. The first can root stumps and shovel them into heaps. Characteristics of the machine, the abundance of modifications and the fact that it was produced more than forty years, give it a more eloquent assessment than the most sophisticated review. But the good reviews this model deserved a lot. This is a universal skidder tractor, one of the advantages of which, by the way, are affordable and inexpensive parts. The TT-4 tractor will serve the forest workers faithfully for many years, despite the fact that its production is stopped.
