Treatment of balanoposthitis in men. Ointments and creams with balanoposthitis
Balanoposthitis is a urological disease characterized by a simultaneous inflammatory process of the head of the genital organ in men (balanitis) and some parts of the foreskin (postitom). In fact, these are two diseases, but often they occur simultaneously, and they were united under the common name - balanoposthitis. Patients sometimes call this disease a balanoposthite of the prepuce. It occurs both in adult men and in children. Balanoposthitis in boys is more often diagnosed at the age of 3 to 7 years.
Causes
Among the causes are the infectious nature of the disease and the non-infectious one. Infectious balanoposthitis mainly occurs due to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which include:
- Syphilis.
- Gonorrhea.
- Genital herpes.
- Candidiasis.
- Human papillomavirus (HPV).
- Gardnerellez.
- Mycoplasmosis.
- Chlamydia.
- Trichomoniasis.
- Infections of the reproductive system (urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis).
- Nonspecific pathogens (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus).
Noninfectious causes of balanoposthitis include:
- Diabetes.
- Irritative balanoposthitis - occurs as a result of some stimulus, for example, mechanical or chemical (thermal).
- Flat lichen.
- Psoriasis.
- Rare diseases ( Behcet's disease, Keira's erythroplasia, xerotic obliterating balanoposthitis, plasma-cellular balanitis Zuna).
Predisposing factors
In addition to the obvious pathogens of this pathology, there are still factors that predispose to its development. These include:
- Violation of personal hygiene.
- Phimosis (narrowing of the foreskin).
- Immune diseases and allergic reactions.
- Random sex.
Symptoms
Treatment of balanoposthitis in men usually does not cause difficulties with correctly diagnosed. Symptomatic disease depends on the severity of the disease and the presence or absence of complications. There are two forms of this disease: acute and chronic. The acute form depending on the symptomatology can be manifested by three kinds of balanoposthitis. So, distinguish simple balanoposthitis, erosive and gangrenous.
Simple balanoposthitis
This is an easy form of this disease. Treatment of balanoposthitis in men in this case usually takes 5-7 days. The characteristic features of simple balanoposthitis are:
- Burning and itching. Usually appear first. These discomforts tend to increase with friction about underwear, touching the foreskin and the head, and also during urination.
- The head (as well as the foreskin) is red - these signs of inflammation can be located in the form of foci, as divided among themselves, and united in one group.
- Swelling and wrinkling of the head and foreskin are observed, that is, maceration of the skin occurs - this is the bursting, loosening of tissues as a result of impregnation of their intercellular fluid.
- Formations of erosion on the head and foreskin. This can be a single spot on the foreskin or multiple erosions, often combined into a single group.
- Often, discharge from the urethra is purulent.
Erosive balanoposthitis
This type of balanoposthitis is characterized by the formation of multiple erosions on the head and foreskin. First, a white swollen outgrowth appears in a certain area. The white thin film on it is the dead cells of the epithelium. After a while this film bursts, and there is a very painful erosion (red spot). After such damage heals, there are no traces left.
Gangrenous balanoposthitis
This form of the disease is very severe and is characterized, in addition to local lesions, and also common signs of intoxication, namely: fever, weakness and malaise. On the head and foreskin of the penis, very painful bleeding and purulent ulcers are observed. Because of the edema, phimosis occurs, ie, it is impossible to expose the glans penis. After the tightening of ulcers, scars remain. They can lead to phimosis, because these scars are connective tissue formations that can not stretch. In addition, perforating holes can remain on the foreskin after healing ulcers.
Symptoms of balanoposthitis in certain STIs
STI, which caused balanoposthitis | Symptoms |
Gonorrhea | There are classical signs of simple balanoposthitis, which are combined with urethritis. |
Chlamydia | Usually only symptoms of balanitis are manifested, i.e. inflammation foci (red spots) are present only on the glans penis, are distinguished by the presence of distinct contours. |
Trichomonas | It often manifests as urethritis. It is characterized by the presence of purulent discharge of yellow or white, which have a foamy character. These secretions accumulate between the head and the foreskin. They have a very unpleasant smell. The head of the penis can be completely swollen and have a red color, or it may have separate foci of inflammation. |
Candidiasis | The first signs are itching and burning, which then turn into pain. With the further course of the disease, a white coating appears on the head, which resembles a curdled lump and is easily removed. This is the manifestation of candidiasis balanoposthitis in men. Treatment is carried out with antifungal agents. |
Herpetic | The head of the penis and the foreskin are covered with a multitude of bubbles with clear watery contents. These vesicles burst, and in their place are formed jazvochki red-pink color. After the tightening of these sores, pigmented spots remain. This kind of balanoposthitis, as a rule, proceeds in a chronic form with periods of exacerbation and remission. |
Syphilitic | With this kind of balanoposthitis, the skin of the head and foreskin forms a solid chancre - painless sores that appear on the site of the primary infection in the primary period of syphilis. |
Gardnerellezny | It reminds a simple balanoposthitis, but with very few manifestations. If the patient's immune system is strong, then this type of balanoposthitis passes without treatment within 2-3 days. Treatment of balanoposthitis in men in this case can not be carried out. |
Papillomavirus | It appears as genital warts. Can affect other parts of the body. |
Some signs of balanoposthitis in the non-infectious nature of the onset
Kind of balanoposthitis | Symptoms |
With flat lichen | As a rule, separate or grouped nodules with irregular shapes appear in the region of the glans penis. On their surface there are white scales. Such nodules appear on other parts of the body. |
Balanoposthitis in psoriasis | The lesions are formed on any parts of the body, including the penis. This type of balanoposthitis is characterized by the appearance of nodules of red color, covered with small scales. |
With diabetes mellitus | Symptoms of this type of balanoposthitis depend on the severity of the course of diabetes and the age of the patient. Characteristic symptoms are: reddening of the head and foreskin, painful sensations in these zones. There may be dryness, cracks and ulceration of these areas, as well as their bleeding. After healing of cracks, scars remain. |
Features of balanoposthitis in boys
Infectious balanoposthitis in childhood is almost never found. The most common causes of this disease in children:
- Violation of the rules of personal hygiene.
- The allocation of an excessive amount of smegma, which accumulates between the head of the penis and the foreskin, forming a nutrient medium for bacteria.
- Phimosis.
- Hypertrophic phimosis or excessively developed foreskin.
