The motor ship "Valery Bryusov": history, photo, modern realities

"Valery Bryusov" is a three-passenger passenger ship with a rich past, already served its time as a floating facility. Once it was considered one of the most comfortable in Russia and drove on cruises of tourists, including foreign ones. Then it became a hotel and a restaurant, as well as the world's first public playground for Moscow residents and city visitors. But now the ship left the capital and will be moored on the joke of the port of the city of Kimry. About the history and past of this cruise ship, we will describe below.

Ship building

"Valery Bryusov" - a motor ship, which the Austrians created. His homeland is the city of Korneuburg, on the shipyards of which he saw the light. The ship was built in 1985 and sold to the Moscow River Shipping Company. True, there is some information that all these five ships Russia received as it were "in the load" to other orders. After all, this project was planned in the Soviet Union, and there were several other economic calculations. Initially, the ship was intended for tourist and cruise purposes. It was named after the famous Russian poet Valery Bryusov. In those years, the ship was one of the high-class and was built on a well-known Austrian shipyard, which specialized in such vessels.

Project Q-065: what is it?

This was the name of the idea of building similar cruise ships. They were created in 1984-1986 in Austria specifically for Russian shipping companies. In total, they were built five. They served the Moscow, Ob-Irtysh and Lena steamships. They are Sergey Yesenin, Alexander Blok, Demyan Bedny, Mikhail Svetlov and the motor ship Valery Bryusov. The ships of this project were the property of the Moscow and Lena tourist fleets. The project at that time was considered super modern and was intended to serve the so-called "blue ring".

"Valery Bryusov" during cruise operation: description of the vessel

This ship, like all five of its brethren, can accommodate one hundred and eighty people. It was intended for domestic river cruises. On its decks were placed cabins designed for one, two and four people. There were also luxury rooms. In all cabins there were showers, toilets and wash basins, as well as radios. In suites there were sofas, and still refrigerators and television sets. "Valery Bryusov" - a motor ship, which also provided for the provision of various services on board. The passengers were at the disposal of: an ironing room, a cinema, a sauna, a dance floor, a bar and a restaurant for 80 people. On the boat there was also a salon with panoramic windows.

The ship was launched in 1985. Its length is 90 meters, width is 15. It can develop speed up to 22 km per hour, and its displacement is equal to 1342 tons. Draft during navigation was slightly more than one and a half meters.

"Valery Bryusov" (motor ship): route

On the tourist lines the ship worked until 1991, and according to some reports - until 1992. He made walks, as well as cruises on the route Moscow-Petersburg. On this ship you could walk along the rivers and lakes of the European part of Russia. There was a ship on the Volga, the Oka, the Neva, the Kama, and the Don. I walked along the Ladoga, Onega and White lakes. Cruise routes were different - from 1 (walking) to 22 days. The program included visits to ancient cities and cultural and historical centers of Russia - Ples, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Murom, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Yaroslavl.

But the ship was economically unprofitable. Elite handsome motor ship "Valery Bryusov" (photo 1985-1989 years testify to this) spent too much fuel. Although its size was small and allowed to travel along the rivers, its services were abandoned after several years. Problems were also added to the financial problems with repairs. In Russia, there was a shortage of spare parts of the right type. The Austrian or German were in short supply, and the replacement could not be found. In the end, it became easier to get motor ships out of work. The only vessel of this type, which is still used for its intended purpose in the European part of Russia, remained "Sergei Yesenin."

The motor ship after "retirement"

Since 1993, the ship has not been used as a cruise ship. He did not change the owner, but became a floating hotel and restaurant on the Moscow River. His new address was a place near the Kremlin, the Vernissage and the Artist's House: The Crimean embankment, 10. The motor ship "Valery Bryusov" turned into a landing stage. It is interesting that in order to deliver the ship to the center of Moscow, it was specially prepared for this purpose, and the river level was lowered so that the ship could pass under the bridges. For the sake of the latter, the leadership of the shipping company even had to commit a misdemeanor. In 1994, all necessary work was completed to connect communications, and a hotel, restaurant and casino were opened on board. A lot of money and labor was invested in this business. But in the two thousandth in the capital built many hotels, banned the gambling business. The hotel became unprofitable, and the standards of its comfort did not meet modern requirements. In the end, only budget tourists and students used its services, and even less often. It was closed in 2009, and the restaurant - in 2011.

Disputes over the reconstruction

When the embankment began to be rebuilt, the ship caused numerous discussions both among architects and the public. There were proposals to remove him from the river altogether. But since 2014, two companies - Drimerz United and Vials - have decided to make something special out of him. This concept was considered by the surviving tourist career, but still functional motor ship "Valery Bryusov", photographs depicting this article illustrate this public space as a new model. Thematically and architecturally it was to fit into the new style of the center of Moscow, and also to become part of the nearby park "Museon". This concept was approved by the city authorities and implemented.

Public space

What until recently was the motor ship "Valery Bryusov"? Restaurant, museum, lecture hall, a place for walking, a shopping and training center? In total a little. There were creative studios and a cinema hall, and almost every day there were different cultural programs. It can be said that this was the first example in the world of using a vessel that is worth the hassle. Boutiques, a hairdresser and a restaurant of healthy food were on the main deck. On the boat - various bureaus, agencies, lecture halls and training centers. Higher - workshops, fast food with Greek cuisine, as well as panoramic areas where cultural and festive events were held.

Current state

Nevertheless, recently it turned out that the authorities of the capital still decided to tow the ship from the Crimean embankment. Such a decision was made by the court accusing ship owners of violating the Water Code of Russia. All tenants of offices and public areas on the ship, on the suit of the prosecutor's office, who was satisfied, had to leave his territory until May 27 this year. Now the ship gave the moorings from the Crimean embankment for the first time in many years. This time, to spend it under the bridges of the capital, they dismantled the cabin. The ship was brought to the port of the city of Kimry, where its status of public space will be restored. But not in Moscow. There are some assumptions that the ship can be used again for cruise purposes, putting new engines and making repairs. After all, this has already happened with the ships that have become a joke. Well, as they say, wait and see!
